Proud to say that after his first bite of good old texan ribs, Dauber has remarked himself as a born again texan ( for the moment). Yep, if the wiff of a baseball team that hasn\'t won a game in a year, but still retains some of the best fans, didn\'t bring him back, the fresh rolls and texan meat and beens did (along with the texas size gas well we all created after the meal).

But don\'t worry New Yorkers you\'ll get your wise cracking coffin dodger back next tuesday.

I found Dallas a great place to spend a weekend or to be \"from\". I worked on the North Dallas Tollway in the Plano area, then got relocated to Orlando. But I do miss the ribs. Tia\'s on I-35 north of the Beltline was my favorite Tex-Mex.

I also found that Dallas had more hobby shops and small and large tourneys and Cons than anywhere else I have been. If you wanted, you could be in a battletech tourney every weekend back then (early 90\'s)

Is it possible we met at one of them?

Welcome back to the fold there Dauber -

Missing that upstate New York weather yet - thats the second reason my dad moved from Buffalo to Texas - the first being my mother who said that Buffalo was to damn cold. :D

Not a bad bbq place. But, I have to admit that the best BBQ I ever had came from a place off the town square in Lockhart. Course the pits there have been burning since the late 1920\'s - without cleaning. :D

No, we ended up going to the Spring Creek BBQ off I-75 in Richardson.
I-75? I-35?

Marietta OK just north of the state line on I-35 at exit 15, (State Road 32) just west of the interstate is a small restraunt, behind the caboose

Wow, it\'s like looking in through a clear, 17\' screen and reading about good BBQ joints.

I think I\'ve got the hang of it, can I play guys?

\"No no, don\'t go down the I-198, if\'n ya want some good grub, take yer ass over to the I-195 and turn left at the dead possum. When you reach the Billy Bob\'s farm, keep goin\' straight \'til ya reach the trailer park, and you should find Grampa Joe\'s Diner off to the right.....:D\"

Ahhh Texas, its a whole nother planet! lollol
Spent 3 years stationed at Fort Hood, Then two years at the Art Institure of Houston, I swore that when I left the state that I would never step foot there again, 10 1/2 years later and still going strong, I did leave some very good friends behind, but yea other than great Tex Mex and BBQ, I dont miss a thing!:p

I spent 5 years working in Belleair-the largest little city in Houston. I loved it then not as many seniors as Fl. the economy down turn in the 80\'s sent me back to Fl. There was wonderful gumbo if I remember at a place made from an old boat off of main street.
I had to fly to Dallas for meetings and visited Austin area (very pretty then) and San Antonio for the river walk
I belive I will stay in Fl despite the growing population. I missed the beach as well as huge thunderstorms too much to leave again for long.

Well, having lived here now for 9 or 10 years, I can safely say it is not the coolest place ever. Actually it\'s really boring and Houston is really ugly, not at all like San Francisco (there\'s a special place in my heart for that city). I miss mountains, but they do have better places to eat down here! :flip::bouncy:

You little states have all the best restaurants :(. It\'s just not fair, dammit! The best we can do up here is Salmon, and that\'ll get tiresome really fast. Caribou and Moose are poor excuses for meat in the first place and you guys feel you have to tease me with BBQ stories?

Texas
Where they are trying to pass a bill that if more than 3 eyewitnesses saw you commit a murder you move up to the head of the line on death row.

Other states are trying to abolish the death penalty.

Texas is putting in an express line.

Gotta love em...lollol

Warning: actually sort of mini related post

When I went to Dallas I was 18. A friend said we had to go to the State Street Bar.
It claims to have the actual blimp used in the movie Bladerunner hung over the bar.
Well, over the bar is this blimp but it was quite a let down - shabby and smoke sooted and little blinky lights mostly out.
But hey! it was a mini!
Oh, the bouncer let us in when I said: \"oh we\'re under 21, but from out of town and a friend told us we just had to see the place.\"
Ah Texas. Never had a fake ID because I never needed one.
