Yes I was thinking about it, here I can get all mentioned items at a really cheap price. My major problem is that the harden process is super fast! It get hard in less than one minute! I am talking about the resin for sure... :laugh: it will get hard before the bubbles are out.
Is there any way to avoid the bubbles in the way of casting? Without any vaccum chamber or high vibrating devices?

Boubi, you might be using too much hardener, or catalyst. Many resin mixes are not 50/50. If your resin was in a liquid state longer the bubbles would have more of a chance to escape.

Then you can ask Andy about his strap on vibrator.

It is clearly written on the bottle 1:1 by weight. I will ask the seller and try lower mix reducing the transparent liquid.

Oh, one other thing is to reduce the temperature of the chemicals. If you can get them down to low room temperature it should slow them down a little too.

Regarding the air bubbles, are you applying wet water to the mould first ?
i mix a little soap to water and apply this, it seems to help as I do not get many bubbles.

The wet water works for plaster of Paris... Is it working with PU resin?

Polyurethane resin has the problem of hardening very fast. It can be a plus but not if you want clear pieces. I recommend you try crystal polyester resin. The hardener can be used between 2% to 4% which means you can control, more or less, the hardening time. Also, you can leave it be for a bit before pouring so that the bubbles come out. The thing about this resin is that it takes a longer time to harden and some times you have to sand the surface to have a clear water like surface, not to speak of the smell.

Finally got my new toys... Hirst molds... and it works perfectly with PU resin.... See below picture after one hour work, right now I am quite happy that it only takes few minutes to harden!
Few bubbles because it gets really fluid when well mixed...

Oh, me too me too! Just got a Hirst mold the other day. I am using dental plaster, but similar results. I feel like a kid with my first batch of legos.

I finally went back to my Goliath from Stephane Simon's, few hours and he will be done...
I tried more complex color scheme, hope you like it!

Thank you Krule, I think I will use some of my bits from my molds to create a wall background with some decorative element, and I was thinking about some spider web. But let's see, still have some time to think about it...

oh fukk, that resin work so well with the hirst art moulds. have loads of plaster casts but this seems to outgun that. btw we really should start an hirst art exchange, i have a few moulds and casted the shit out of them probably never going to use them again.

Yes and with the resin you are set in less than 10min you have your components ready to be painted! This resin is so fast that I am still amazed... They are some bubbles but nothing which cannot be easily covered up and repaired! Which mold do you have? I might consider buying them if not owned yet? I like them and consider to play with them later on when kids are bigger in order to make castle and other scenery.

Thank you for Goliath, it is an extremely fine miniature. I am amazed by the casting quality and the amount of details... The pictures don't show it well but the colors are better in real life. I am quite satisfied with the midtones and more complex color scheme.

If people have any advice and/or examples of other mini I would be happy to get them

Here a little update, I finally finished the model of Goliath, and I have prepared the base. I have used my modular resin bricks done with my moulds... It worked perfectly...
The pictures are noisy and quite flat light and strange colors, the model looks better in real life! I will take better pictures when finish the whole model.

Good work! the choice of the colours remind me the paint of Vincent Fontaine, the works he did on Acheron or Mid nor at Rackham time!the future base is nice too!
