Boubi WIP

Ok I was not so active on the forum recently, but I am looking at 10 ball, AndyG, Quiarcus, SkelettetS, Sproket, actually almost all thread in WIP section, including Gokan thread!
I have the impression that WIP section is really active recently and I like that! So I add my piece of WIP. I am quite busy work wise, never ending here, so a bit less painting, but still enough to finish few minis, the problem now is improving, not much on that side as I want to finish mini with less time on them, see below results, I rarely spend more than 3-4h on each of the mini below. Which from my point of view a quite good standard, but I have now difficulties to lower down the speed and get better jobs done! Quite strange feeling, not sure if coming from motivation or simply skills...

Enough whining here some mini I have done:
First of all, my finished Goliath, sorry for the pictures all taken with my ipad. This is my last mini where I have spent more than 10h:

Then my Yujing Inifinity squad (actually starter box painted), it was a great fun to paint those, I enjoyed them!

Then my bust, I really don't know how to continue it. I am not sure about the color of the shoulder pad, and this part is disturbing me, any advice?

Here my first Chibi miniature from Arcadia Quest game, the mini are really nice, this is Zhubajie, famous pig in chinese story "A Journey to the West":

And now the following minis for Arcadia Quest, which are really fun to paint, first time for me:

If you have any advice, critics, comments, etc.. please feel free to share!
I hope you enjoyed them I will try to keep you a bit more updated, but as often it comes and goes.

Happy painting and wish everyone a good week end!

watcha boubi good to see you on the forums again. theyre a very good standard considering only a few hours each. the shoulder pad look ok to me maybe knock back the red a little bit and highlite a tad more but I like the colour scheme tbh. As regards the lack of motivation you need to get yourself on a holiday mate get yourself over to sunny old England and get yourself to Euromilitaire or GD etc etc. It really gets the creative juices flowing seeing all that amazingness.

Great work Love it, especially the yellow inifinity mini! Axe dude is pretty cool too, I cant put my finger on it but the base and mini dont combine well, I think the base is a bit too clean, maybe some colours of the mini mixed into the base too.

Hi Boubi Nice minis! Those infinity minis look great! They are fun to paint right? Lot's of detail but don't make you want to go crazy. You could always try some sculpting for a break. I have been doing some online contests for the last few months it's pretty addictive. Even if I am getting trounced in the CMON contest.

Thank you Andy, I would love to come one day... but I cannot let the kids to my wife and travel back to the old Europe alone, a bit unfair! And travelling to a miniature show with them would be quite sportive!
But I will definitely do it one day, I just need to prepare the ground, and start the negotiations, maybe to combine it with business trip! Is there a website with all the miniatures shows in Europe? I would be then able to plan something out!

Yes I also love the orange/yellow one! For Goliath I also think the base a bit too clean, but as usual miss some inspiration to make it more detailed! Maybe my wish to finish the mini as soon as possible, quite a pity, the most difficult part is the last few hours!

I should give a try but I would like to get some starting point with an experimented sculptor, I feel the videos not enough, but also I never really gave it a try. I would like to improve my painting skills first, I am stagnating to my level since one year, I have improved my speed but not the rest! The motivation is back, after few chibi miniature for Arcadia Quest to play later on with kids.

I will go back to the bust and finish it!

I am back after few months of forum inactivity, even if I follow on an almost daily basis!
I have watched the new Painting Buddha video, with Fernando techniques which I could not resist to try right away on a new (yes, I know...) bust.
Here the first 2 hours results on the face, some detailing to be done and smoothing the transition, but quite satisfied.

Any comments or advice would be more than welcome!

I like the skin tone and bright eyes :) He's coming to my town in June to teach a class. I am very excited since he has a very unique and fast way of working.

The video is really good, Fernando has a good sense of humor and it is a pleasure to watch, easy way to paint if you already have a certain level!

Here some progress after another 40min, make the basic draft on the cloth parts, to see if the colors are bonding together. Still ok, even if something is slightly off but cannot realize what, any help?

Here a quick update, defined a bit more the cap and the vest few touch up on the face and started the leather strap... Quite enjoyable technique!
what do you think about the color selection? Are they fitting?

....yes I worry about this everyday! Always looking behind my back and listening for the clink clink of his armor! :). Simon minis should have some new stuff for us soon. I recently emails Stephen to find out when we can expect some new products.

Yes I love Simon miniature... I believe he was busy commissioning for some kickstarter. If you have some news, don't hesitate to post I might buy his new creations!

Here my progress on my bust, the most productive week I had since a long long time! I have continued the cloth, started with the NMM, define the face a bit better, still need some work here...

Hi,

You have a lot of interesting stuff.

Quite interested in closed pic of the Goliath project.

The bust you are working on is also a cool stuff. I really like how you work with the color on the hood.

Many thaks,
Mariano,
