Goblin Spear-Sword (Citadel Fiend Factory FF23 Goblins advancing With Spears v1)

Base:
not that I can find

Catalogue:
unknown

20mm base for scale. I guess these are Alan Perry, Citadel Fiend Factory Goblins. I may have missed them in the Compendium but I haven\'t spotted these guys in any of the reference I\'ve got.

Apparently they arrived in a pretty sorry state, a bit too vulnerable in their plastic bag stapled with a bit of card packaging, none of the luxury of blister packs!

I haven\'t helped with the photograph but in the group shot, 2nd rank back, left hand side, there are 2 unpainted figures whose swords were broken upon arrival, they\'ve had the shaft bent up to their lips to represent musicians. There\'s also one who has an axe head attached to his damaged haft but I\'ve lost track of it now. Untangling this lot took a while!

So this was the main Goblin unit for the army, 48 figures.

Ral Partha 1995, 1997 pg11 Fantasy Collector Series 02-065 Lesser Orc Melee Troops (6)

20mm base for scale. He\'s Goblin With Club for at least 15 years but finally is promoted to Lesser Orc! I guess there are a lot of these floating about given the length of time he was in production. I guess he was a commander in the army.

Hobgoblin 1

Base:
none, front of base clipped?

Catalogue:
(clue) Armory Buyers Guide To Fantasy Miniatures v1.1 pgC2 (1983) Miniature Figurines - Fantasy Folk Bad Guys FF-104 Hobgoblins

20mm base for scale. A lot of the Fantasy Folk series come with weapons options, I guess this guy was used as a Standard Bearer in the army.

Hobgoblin 2

Base:
HBG9

Catalogue:
(clue) Armory Buyers Guide To Fantasy Miniatures v1.1 pgC2 (1983) Miniature Figurines - Fantasy Folk Bad Guys FF-104 Hobgoblins

20mm base for scale. Looks as though it\'s a sword hilt remaining of his weapon. Dates back to the army. I really don\'t like these Hobgoblin figures very much.

Fighter Dragon Shield 2 (Citadel Fantasy Adventurers FA1-1 Fighter In Plate Mail With Sword)

Base:
MP

Catalogue:
not yet

20mm base for scale. A second one of these! The dragon on his head is clearer here, it also has a cleaner base that I think says MP. So an early Citadel Michael Perry is my guess. This would suggest that the Fighter Cow Shield is also early Citadel.

Wolf Rider Of The Night

Base:
Ral Partha 1976

Catalogue:
Ral Partha 1978 pg3 Wizards, Warriors & Warlocks EW642 Wolf Rider Of The Night, With Spear & Shield, Mounted On Wolf
Ral Partha 1979 pg5 Wizards, Warriors & Warlocks EW642 Wolf Rider Of The Night, With Spear & Shield, Mounted On Wolf

20mm base for scale, plus a GW LotR plastic Warg Rider. There was going to be a unit of these in the army but the rules of Swords & Spells proved to be so cumbersome after a few games that money was spent in a character figure direction for D&D rather than more troops. I do have the second wolf but he\'s currently representing a pet wolf called Sack in the campaign I\'m playing in now so is on the other side of town!

Catalogue:
Grenadier 1991, 1993 Julie Guthrie\'s Fantasy Personalities 721 (3) Rogues

20mm base for scale. The Grenadier 1989 is clear on the bases but I\'m guessing a bit about the model codes. I don\'t recognise the 3rd one but perhaps he\'ll show up at some point.

Companion (Fighter & Companions)

Base:
Grenadier 1988 A-296

Catalogue:
Grenadier 1991, 1993 Nick Lund\'s Fantasy Warriors 906 Fighter & Companions

20mm base for scale. I\'m guessing at the A296 as the bottom edge has been filed away to stop him from wobbling. I\'ve got some of Nick Lund\'s dwarves & hobgoblins, I like his chunky style. I don\'t recognise the Fighter or the Dwarf, I\'m not sure that they\'re going to turn up.

Hill Giant (Citadel Fiend Factory FF15-1 Hill Giant Swinging Club)

Base:
not that I can make out

Catalogue:
not yet

25mm base for scale. Another of my overpaints, although you get to see an original as well! I can\'t believe I\'ve not found this Giant in a catalogue. They\'re part of the original army but there\'s no obvious stamp on the base & the smooth base top differs from the early Citadel while the early Ral Partha is good for being marked. Perhaps I\'ve just overlooked the drawing of him, oh well (the internet helps though!).

Orc

Base:

Catalogue:
Armory Buyers Guide To Fantasy Miniatures v1.1 pg? (1983) Prince August - 3 Cavity Fantasy Moulds 659 Orcs II

25mm base for scale. Only after going through the Grenadier & Ral Partha catalogues does he turn out to be PAM! I don\'t know if this was home-cast from a kit or purchased as a regular mini. An Orc as well, I was looking for Hobgoblins/insect-men.

Orc Standard Bearer, \"Snouty\" (Repost)

Base:
none, front of base clipped?

Catalogue:
(clue) Armory Buyers Guide To Fantasy Miniatures v1.1 pgC2 (1983) Miniature Figurines Fantasy Folk Bad Guys FF-103 Orcs

20mm base. Yes it\'s Snouty again, but possibly identified. Like the Hobgoblins, I think this is a Miniature Figurines model from the Fantasy Folk Bad Guys series. The scratched checks in the armour & the base style look to be a match.
