I\'m sure there\'s more than one or two Pink Floyd fans here on the site.

It\'s been announced that founder member Syd Barrett has died.

Was he that Crazy diamond dude or was that one of the other guys...?

In any case, I don\'t REALLY like PF, although I like some of the songs.

RIP

He was the man who came in and came up with the name and wrote the first two albums, but kind of lost the plot and became a recluse..........

One of the coolest things about Pink Floyd is that their music gets \'rediscovered\' by new generations of 15 years old boys almost every year...

Another cool thing is that, as opposed to contemporary bands where everyone is a celebrity and well known, I could hardly name the members in Pink Floyd. Sadly, I didn\'t even know who Syd Barrett was without a quick peek to the internet.

It\'s a shame but nobody lives forever.
At least some of the music he has written will remain timeless and in essence he will live forever within this.

Cue \"Interstellar Overdrive\"...

Most of the songs anyone/everyone knows by PF are in the post-Barret era. He was the driving force of the band through 1968.

awwww :(

First thing I thought of too was Interstellar Overdrive.

Now I\'m going to have to break out my copy of the Madcap Laughs again.

The man was a legend.

People were scared to eat or drink anything at Syd\'s because he put LSD in EVERYTHING!

Surprised he lasted as long as he did, his brain has been refried beans for a good 40 years!

RIP Syd

Both his early Floyd work and his solo stuff are brilliant. Hopefully he has found some peace now. From everthing I\'ve ever read, he found damn little of it on this earth.

This is sad news indead. I have enjoyed his music for the last 16 years, yes supervike I did discover Pink Floyd at 15.

I absolutly love everything Pink Floyd.

RIP Syd!

Yup I just saw this myself, this is indeed a sad day, Floyd have been a big part of my life and to lose the founding member is tragic.

They are my wifes favourite band, and she has been getting me more into them since we first got together. RIP Sid.

He was a unique creative force.

I also thought of Intersteller Overdrive when I heard the news on the Radio, but no one played it!

RIP

Always felt sorry for Syd. If I understand it correctly, David Gilmore kept an eye on Syd, financially, from a distance. Sad to hear of his death. I hope he is at peace.:(

I read Gilmore\'s autobiography recently, interesting read.

I didn\'t get into Floyd until my twenties, but I really like their stuff.
