Breaking the 'unbreakable'...

Well, could be that it's a good thing? I mean, if he managed to break it, then it's another point where they know they need to fix things?
Though, why would you want an 'unbreakable' phone in the first place. As said, very few people use a phone at 20 feet below the surface. And if you drop it from the 10th floor to the ground...well, too bad for you. What were you flailing about with it for, in the first place?

Is this the 'Land Rover' phone? I almost got one as my current phone but got a 'similar' sort of thing from Samsung instead that's supposed to be dust, water and shock resistant... well, it's going back to Samsung again to be repaired/replaced.
I'll stick with Nokia next time lol.

While you do raise a good point Danny, I've seen phones fail on building sites just from being in that environment, dust, knocks, spills, etc, and not just the major things.
That being said, I would argue that there is definitely a market for it, but at the end of the day, there is only so much that can be done to protect a screen without totally obscuring it from sight.

But most phones only take a bit of water to self destruct. I keep my phone with me on the boat for emergencies, but have to put it in a water proof container (lock-n-lock) to keep any errent spray from ruining it.
Had one phone in a zip lock baggie with me when we had a small skiff get submerged in the keys. The phone did not survive. (neither did the trolling motor nor the outboard)

On vacation (holiday) in the Keys.
The little outboard was able to be flushed and run again. Cost me more for a new set of rings than the motor cost me.
The trolling motor might have been repairable, but the flat fee plus shipping to get it back to the factory repair center was more than the motor was worth. No warrantee as I was using a fresh water version in salt water.
We got rolled by a couple of large wakes. I killed the outboard as we went over (fear of swimming with spinning prop). We both came up and another fisherman helped us gather our floating gear and get us to shore. The bilge pump was working (with the battery submerged), and about an hour later we were seaworthy again.
Went back out and dove for the rest of our gear (5'-8' of water - crystal clear) - lost one reel - bearings.
Had my phone in a zip lock in my shirt pocket. Pulled it out to call the wifes to let them know we'd be late for lunch. Zip lock full of water. Trolling motor worked for about 15 minutes. Almost made it home. Paddled in the last 100 yards.
Holiday weekend and could not get the outboard to a mechanic right away. Sprayed lube into the carb and pulled hoping to displace the salt water. Never could get it to start again.
Got home 2 days later and the piston was frozen to the cyliner (and maybe the main bearings). Dropped it off at the mechanic. Lots of parts and money later it works again.

i dropped my old nokia down the bog once, it took about a day to dry out but was perfectly ok after. the screens do appear to be a weak spot i had a nokia slidy and the screens were always breaking on it. i just gave up after the 3rd replacement and got a samsung..bit of useless trivia blu tooth is apparently named after some norwegian king who unified the different kingdoms under his rule.. some kind of in joke between the different phone companies who developed it.

What sort of boat do you have Airhead? I'm into boats myself. You're very lucky to have the Keys as your boating area - I've always fancied going myself for a bit of Tarpon fishing. It's a different kettle of fish in the UK with boating.... the sea conditions are rarely as favourable as what I've seen in Florida. Very, very envious

I can only guess bog means toilet.
I've personally broken one phone, and my current one is so scratched that the screen doesn't always register touch. If a company is willing to spend money developing an "indestructible phone" then that tech is going to be seen in many other phones to a greater or lesser degree in a few years.
