Hi there folks,

After my first post a few days ago on the painting threads, i thought i should add a work in progress. I\'m working on a Stenguard Marine at the moment.

Pretty new to this whole painting thing (Sept \'08) and with this mini I am taking my time, trying my first foray into NMM.

Here is a pic of the marine, tidied up and undercaoted...

Please have a look and comment please

Hi there,
Yes i see there is no picture (pardon the pun!).
Any idea how to include a picture on a post??

If you host it with photobucket or a similar photo sharing place, you can just copy and paste the image code right into the text field here.

looking great atm i think generally you need to add more contrast between shading and highlighting but apart from that keep going

totaly agree on that count, for nmm to work, on silver/grey at least it needs to be shade4d all the way to black or dark blue or whatever (anything dark really) and highlited all the way up to white. looks very clean neat and well executed, keep it up:)

Heston, Freak and SG, thanks for the replies.

I\'ve been working on the contrast in the NMM on the bolter, the only part that has been completed in a \"steel/aluminum\" look is the muzzle. The rest of the steel parts are just basecoated Fortress Grey.

Will try to update the pics when any progress is made!

i\'m very jelous brew.... years of painting and mine all looks terriable in comparison.

Howd you do the blue for the backpack mate, looks good... contemplating Ultramarines for awhile be good to get a solid looking formula to go by

Ahhhhh...too too busy!!
Might actually get some time to paint tonight....

BrotherTellos, the blue on the pack pack is a base coat of ultramarine, then shadows of 1:1 UM and Regal Blue then 1:2:1 of Ultramarineblue, Regal Blue and Liche Purple, highlights 1:1 UM and Ice Blue, then 1:1 UM and Spacewolve grey and then Space wolf, UM wash to bind it all together.

Hope this helps!

You\'re doing excellently for such a short time. If you keep up the progress you\'ll go far

Longest WIP ever...

I started this mini about a year ago, I intended to use it to practice some techniques....trying basically everything from new as I\'m only still learning.
Well as you\'ll see below I really haven\'t got very far. The summer months were pretty much a complete write-off with holidays and cricket season but i\'m back on the horse and making a little progress.

Slowly but surely...

I\'ve basecoated this bottom half and applied shadows and highlights to some of the Ultra Marine blue parts.

I\'ve also kind of finished the gun/arms. First effort at NMM (which to me seems to mean paint it-realise it is sh*t-repaint it-realise its only slighly better-repeat the above many many times!!)

A closer look at the marine itself...I said that it was a practice piece; I realise now that a little more time in prep would have avoided the mould lines and few uneven finishes. But Hey Ho...
