Bricks - GW Style

What colors do I use for painting worn bricks? I only have GW colors but none of them look right.

For my urban themed bases I\'ve been using mechrite red and dwarf flesh. But take a look around your area and you will many different colour ranges of bricks. ;)

Don\'t paint them all the same colour... vary them - some darker, some lighter, somer redder etc.- it\'ll look much better.

Making the ones near the ground darker is realistic too - you could even add a touch of green for a mossy, algae look :)

This is something I do to help me with stuff like this.
I was painting a brick wall last year, so I went to http://www.cgtextures.com and also googled for images of brick walls that I liked, then I went into my photo editor and pulled out the colours of various areas, and drew some squares and filled them in with that colour. Then I mixed my paints to match the colours and painted in the same places as the photos (roughly, and to taste).

OK, so it\'s a very bad photo (colour is really off in the shots of this mini!) and my painting\'s not great, but the idea works and it really helped me to not worry about the colours.

If you do an image search for brick wall or brickwork and you\'ll see a lot more variation too.

Then mix or choose maybe four or five different colours to suit what you want and paint away.
