Damn straight!

Just let it go, really who cares if it\'s on the top 10? no-one should, no-one could possibly take this mini seriously, just let ppl vote this one up, don\'t bother vote it down

Sniping and boosting give me tantrums, for a few inconsolable minutes, and then i rationalise what this is, my pastime or pass time enjoyably.. so if the culprit thinks this is great let it be, at the end of the day it is his resentment and lack of dedication to the technique of painting a mini that is burning and his ability is truly reflected in the registered scores anyway.....

....if this comment is reflected in my scores by snipers i really don\'t care anymore, i go to bed comfortable in my hobby, i do it for me, i get to see them everyday in real life and you can\'t take that away:)

ps. the turner prize is an award given to an artist that in the eyes of the selection committee has had the most original/ best / conceptual show within the London Area within the previous year. I don\'t think this is the place to mock it although at times it seems deservedly so the best judge of great art is time.. and some turner prize winners are still making intellectual, stimulating and genre defining work... r\'n\'r Turner

Oh, the Turner prize stuff is great. I wouldn\'t make fun of it. But it still tends to be very WEIRD, because conceptual art is usually weird. Hence the tree of meat, or whatever.

:)I\'m not getting at anyone! Just the diversity of the turner would require all the forum space to discuss, and the adversity would require a lot more:D

I started reading it, but I\'m just not gonna waste my time.
I guess there are issues with them undermining the scoring system, for people who paint on commission and stuff, but it\'s just alot of wind.
@ Orky dave, relax bud, it\'s not worth taking the effort over, it\'s obvious what kinda people you\'re dealing with, they get a rise out of your reaction.
Best so far is what Hinton said, for most of us we\'re out to improve our painting through sharing, the scores are a side issue.:)

Wow, isn\'t it amazing how petty some people can be and how many are willing to jump on a passing bandwagon. I\'ve looked at this guy\'s gallery and he\'s got some pretty good scores what seems to be a reasonable standard of painting (the only vote I\'ve given him up until now was a 7).

Unfortunately for him, he now seems to have genuinely upset a lot of people and is unlikely to get the respect he thinks he deserves because of his childish actions. I think we\'ve repeatedly covered the fact that the scores are generally secondary to comments and feedback and taking them too seriously will only lead to madness :yes:

But I think many times these things come from folks who don\'t frequent the forums here.

what can you do. You either use this place as a tool to get better or a way to soothe your ego. Let him have his score, it\'s like playing a game with the cheat codes on. Yeah, you get to see the ending, but it really doesn\'t mean that much...

Thanks Hubba, I had actually registered on the guys site to get my feelings about this across on their forums but you are right, and my time would be much better spent with a brush in my hand!

Time to let this one fizzle out, and let the little boys have their fun methinks!

Seems very strange Gareth@ that you claim all your so called gaming pieces score 8.7 or higher yet your gallery is empty??? and having voted on the number of submissions that I have on here I do not recall seeing any of your work???

Griffon you got his name wrong... That\'s probably why you think his gallery is empty.

As to the general subject... Would it be such a bad idea to only allow registered CMON users to vote on miniatures here? That would eliminate a lot of the temptation to pad scores and snipe I would imagine. Simply because people are lazy and not likely to register simply to snipe at people (unless they\'re realllllly pissed)

Just a thought...

My apologies it was the system not me honest that got his name wrong...when clicking on Gareth\' name and then clicking on his see all submissions it was bringing u the gallery of GarethA@ and not Gareth@ when I did a search I got the right Gareth.
I have voted on most of them now and no I do not snipe people there is some nice pieces in your Gallery Gareth.

Athough it surprises me why you passed the comment that you did on the other forum.

Project harkling was to raise peoples awareness to sniping. It was never to snipe others, or harm others. Its had a lot of exposure and hopefully people saw the fun in it.

Warseer never. Nor do i think some of the guys on here did. Thats cool, i respect your views. But a lot of people mistook it for an attack on the hobby, and its not. I love painting, i wouldn\'t do anything to hurt it.

I\'m one of the first to joke about myself being a geeky painter, project harkling was another jokey look at our hobby. But more importantly its raised the topic of sniping. Which for me is why i wanted to back harkling. in backing harkling, i\'ve been victimised and sniped as i outlined above.

People have assumed myself and the members of swc are snipers, we\'re not. We\'re victims of sniping like you guys. We want to fix, maybe we went about it the wrong way, maybe we didn\'t. Its good its raised awareness.

The one guy who did snipe on swc, recieved a warning in a pm. As we don\'t tolerate it.

Someone had a great idea to raise awareness. Do the opposite. Take a really fantastic model, and get people to vote 1s. This would do the rounds on the forums and continue to raise awareness. its what i wish harkon GreyWolf would have done to start with.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. I\'m really not the evil person warseer made me out to be. I played up to them a bit, mainly because i couldn\'t get through to them. I respect their views, i respect anyone who feels passionate about a subject and is willing to stand up for it.

I\'ve seen plenty of Gareth©\' minis before, and always have thought they were great.

I think sniping is wrong, whether is retalitory or just out of spite. Its unfair that it has even happened.

But, giving inflated scores to boost a mini\'s score is also wrong.

Just had a look at Gareth\'s gallery and to be honest the scores seem about right to me. The problem really lies with his perception of what he THINKS his minis should score vs what they actually DO score.
I think he is also assuming since people don\'t tend to give comments to justify scores (either high or low) that something must be amiss.

The reality is that most people vote on multiple minis in a sitting and to stop and give a detailed analysis to every vote would mean CMON voting as a career.

Also if you bothered to do a search for sniping in these forums you would see that it has all been said before and the majority seem to disagree with your standpoint.

I agree in retrospect now, the voting 1s on a great could have worked better. Other suggestions i\'ve heard is boycotting. But i\'m not sure on that.

I did like the only registered users can vote. Now that is a good idea.

No i\'m quite happy with my scores. I\'m a gamer, i paint armies, i don\'t expect to to get 9s (yet). Don\'t ever remember saying my scores are poor as such, just that myself and others have been hit by snipers. My rank was 445, now its 491 due to people attacking me for project harkling.

thanks for replying though.
