Broody Astropath

Hey,

I know that this is slightly odd, as I submitted the mini to CMON a little while ago. That said, I've just written a 'How I painted it' sort of article, and I'd really appreciate feedback on the process that the project took - its rather different from my usual habits.

The astropath was also a strange project for me, because I set myself such a limited time frame in which to execute the project (1 day, give or take), but I've come out of it really liking the reliance on the airbrush and the smooth base for the brush that this provided. Any thoughts would be most welcome, not so much on the mini, and I'm not asking you to vote (again), that would just be rude, but I would love to know what you thought of the way I painted him, how do you think I could refine my technique? is there anything you think I should do differently? all that sort of stuff.

Thanks so much guys and girls,

James

Haven't checked out the article yet, but I do like the monochrome-i-ness of the work you did. 8 from me!

I paint my thumb.
Good stuff, great lights, simple yet efficient composition. For something almost 'speed painted'
that's pretty impressive.
I'll have to read that article.

The mini is good and the article is good, I just think the mini needs a bit more shade bur it's a great job for a one day painting.

well thank you gentlemen, it's most appreciated. I am glad you broadly like what I've done, I am aware that not everyone is enamoured with the base, I know that even ignoring the painting, the abstraction of it is always a hard sell. I agree it also needs some more sharp highlights and shades. I think if I did it again I'd also get the standard thingy off the floor to give more of an impression of depth in the warp pattern. aah well, you live and learn. At least I think it has presence in the way that the 'eavy metal one doesn't necessarily. Overall it was a pleasure to paint, and I'd love to know what you think of the way it was painted with airbrush and oils.
