Are you painting just one miniature or a whole regiment? Also, it probably would be best for you to post a picture so that people can see what you have done wrong and remedy the problem.

A good quick and easy way the paint orc cloth I have found is to start with scorched brown, drybrush dark flesh, wash with a dilute brown ink all over, and add highlights to the creases with dark flesh. This will give a fairly dingy brown but without being uninteresting.

Anyway, hope that helps, and good luck with your orc/s

Cheers,
Tom

Do the standard paint job. Undercoat white. This down beastial brown and do 3-4 thin layers. Brown wash (thin 3 or 4 to 1) then highlight with BB mix bone. Do a rewash if high lights are too sharp.

Oh and post some pics.

Paint them bestial brown in a few thin layers, then wash them with a thinned mix of VMC smoke and water. With some thin paint reapply bestial brown to all the raised areas, then snakebite leather over the even more raised areas. it may take one or more applications to get a good highlight.

I just finnished my firt rank of orc-warriors, and i painted them with a basecoat of SCorched brown, followed by 2 highlights of adding desert yellow to the brown (take a small ammount at a time), and finished them of with Chestnut, Purple glazes

thanks demonherald! I just saw your gallery and remembered seeing the mechanicus cultist on the day. What a cool idea and extremely well executed!

Erik - good job on those tunics. I really like to skintone - very dank and grizzly
:D The metals are also grungy, like an orcs weapon should be! Excellent job on the bases, they can really improve armies to no end!

My only niggle would be to perhaps paint the shields a lighter brown, because at the moment they look black.

Anyway, excellent stuff, if you paint an entire army like this then it\'ll be an amazing site on the battlefield....

Cheers,
Tom
