GW has pit out it's fair share of rather questionable kits over the years (dreadknight I'm looking at you), and one of the best examples of a kit that really doesn't work is the Stormraven gunship.
As a new BA player I set my self the task of creating a better version by repurposing a Corvus Blackstar which at least looks like it might get off the ground as an aircraft kit.
When I started the build, there were several challenges, the biggest two were removing the Deathwatch Iconography from the top of the fuselage, and inserting a cockpit and canopy to bring the conversion in line with the other marine flyers. I have been making complex infantry kitbashes for many years, but this project is the first time I have tried such a complex conversion on a large vehicle kit.
After a lot of work the results seem to have been worth it and the project is coming together!

I am pretty proud of how the cockpit came out, torn from a Stormtalon kit.

The chin assault cannons also turned out exactly as I imagined them with the addition of some flexible resin ammo belts.

Mission now is to fill in all the gaps with my new favourite filler/modelling compound of superglue mixed with baby powder to thicken it, and also add a lot of rivets to the new plasticard sections I have added.
