Building a Demon Display Board

I'm making a display board for my Tzeentch Demon army and detailing the process as a general how-to on my blog the Mid-West Monster Lab. This week over at the monster lab we're looking at adding terrain to the board and building the board's prominent feature, a warp gate! This week's post picks up where we left off last week when we built the board from scratch.

Here's a few pics of the work in progress!

That bit at the bottom gonna be a warp gate? I like the look of that! I'll be watching this thread with some interest :)

i like the idea, but your building placements seem odd, like the rounded building looks like it wouldnt go there, as it leads onto a road and may even cut into the nearest building if you get me. but ill be following

Yep, that certainly does make it less realistic - is it too late to spin it around the other way?

Wicksy, that is indeed a warp gate! Through a combination of layering, sanding, trimming, and adding green stuff tendrils it should end up looking pretty chaosy.

Bildo and Dogfaced boy, I get what you're saying about the placement. The round building is a sort of flanking facade for the roadside space marine statue. The area is supposed to resemble an administratum district with the shrine of the aquila and a mechanicum headquarters. The warp gate will go in the north-west corner, partially entering the shrine of the aquila. The area is supposed to be more of aesthetic plaza than a general street level area.

Thanks for the critiques, I'll keep you posted!

I'll be following this one. Terrain is something very new and exciting to me and yours is looking great. Can't wait to see more. Best of luck with the progress :)
