Bulking out armatures

I have been trying to sculpt some minis and I noticed that it is fairly difficult to get the putty to stick to the armature. Are there any methods anyone can suggest that help make putty stick to the armature better?

It is a little difficult to get it to stick. I like to use Milliput for the first stage of bulking, as it gets rock hard and provides a more stable surface to sculpt on, and other putties stick well to it.

try superglue on the armature and then sprinkle with some bicarb. it makes it rough and easier for the putty to adhere

Backwards to what I would have expected but a coat of gloss acrylic makes the stuff stuck very well - Magic Sculpt that is. Can\'t imagine other putty\'s would be much different.

wrap it with fine wire..it gives the putty something to grab on to.

I use the superglue-and-bicarb thing sometimes but it depends on what the armature is like if it\'s really needed.

If you\'re not in a rush and your armature isn\'t super slippy, you can just pinch off small blobs of whatever putty you\'re using, press \'em into place with a tool and then let the thing set. The next layer of putty will stick to that first layer just fine.

That was how I did mine.
