bull ogres

I bought 8 of these little guys off E-Bay and man were they messed up.Someone used a glue that melds the plastic together( bottom pic) then tried to fix with a sculpting tool.they will take some work and a little GS to fix so here is the first wip I have started.DD

Wow he was a tad \"over zealous\" with using his plastic glue!

Could you not just greenstuff some extra muscles over the glue?

It is a good attempt, I really like his green eyes, you did those really well.

If you\'re looking for things to improve on then I suggest trying not to drybrush the skin or the trousers - this gives it a somewhat chalky look. Maybe give the boots a highlight of shadow grey or codex grey to bring interest to that area. Also I think that the stitches in the trousers would also benefit from being a lighter colour to give some contrast to the trouser area. And for the trousers I would suggest taking the highlights up on the creases to give the piece more contrast.

Don\'t take all the suggestions the wrong way, it is a good model, but I\'m assuming you want some advice if you put it on the forums.

And one other thing - try to get a better pic for the gallery, this one is too yellow and will hurt your rating.

Anyway, hope that helps. I\'m sure some other people will be able to offer some more comments.

Yeah I have to say I am not a dry brushing fan either.
A bit of dark lining where your different areas meet would help define everything better - so around the top of the pants, around the sword hilt, on the buckles etc.

I understand that these are WIP photos and not the final polished voting photo. BUT (you knew there had to be a BUT) the lighting and background are distracting - especially the larger female mini in a couple of the shots.

Simply put, if we cannot see it, we cannot comment or vote on it. Good lighting and photos are a must and are as important on here as the paint job itself. A great paint with a poor pic will not score.



As to the ogre, I find the skin too close to the belly shield - both yellow browns in some of the photos. Others show the skin more green and I like that better. The skin is very dull looking but the pants are kinda shiney. I would think the reverse would be better - sweaty shiney skin with dull dirty pants.

The metals could use a weak wash to dull them down a bit and maybe some rusty areas (but that is a personal favorite of mine). Try some Tamaya or Vellajo \"Smoke\" on them to help define them.

thank you all for your comments I will try and fix some of these as soon as possible.Highlighting the pantd creases,a little blacklining,some tamya smoke (which I actually have)dulling the pants down if I still can this is what I was looking for and why I have not clearcoat finished him just yet.DD

I think drybrushing would be fine on the pants, as long as you\'re careful with it. It adds a nice texture. I\'d definitely go with a different route on the skin though.

It looks like you are off to a great start. Here are a few pointers, I hope they help...

1) Post your photos in chronological order.
2) Read a few tutorials on basic photo taking and manipulation. Better photos will generate better comments.
3) Take your time.
4) Work with complimentary colors when shading and highlighting. Your shaded areas on the ogres dont seem to match hue wise with the mid tones of the flesh.
5) Your hand seems to be steady. You do very well applying the color where you want it and staying \"within the lines\".
6) As for the glue, less is more! Nice job with the greenstuff!
7) Keep up the good work!
