Bust sculpting tutorials

I'm going to be taking a character sculpting class here at work in a few months, but I was interested in getting started on my own. I was curious if anyone knew of any sites that had tutorials on sculpting like 1/3 scale busts. Basics like building the armature, etc, etc I looked at the articles section on here and all I found was a full figure.

If you're looking for online stuff particularly have a look on Conceptart.org, there are lots of great sculptors posting there. YouTube now has a great deal of videos showing sculpting, a few good ones are linked to in this thread from pF recently, which has a few other links of interest too (don't miss the second page).

Busts are mostly about the face and head so looking for tuts on those two can be helpful, instead of just doing searches for guides to sculpting busts.

What material do you intend to sculpt in? This has quite a bearing on armature/underlay design and to some extent basic methodology - polymer clay, epoxy putty, real clay and sculptors' wax all need to be worked with slightly differently. There are a few good books on sculpting in clay that are worth the investment, although the techniques aren't all directly applicable to common modelling materials two good ones that focus on the head are The Portrait In Clay by Peter Rubino and Modelling The Head In Clay by Bruno Lucchesi. And here is a great little SBS from Conceptart from 2005 (using Super Sculpey) that's been linked to a couple of times.

Thanks everyone for the links and advice. I think I'll probably use super sculpy at first, maybe try a different medium later.

super sculpey firm is awesome. a wood block armature wrapped with wire should work. i have some spherical wooden pieces but have only seen these small to medium size in art shops. You can bulk out with tin foil as well.
