Fried Bread is a normal tradition in Britain Breakfasts.
We used to use it while camping to soak up any remaining hot oil in the frying pan.
Do it right and its superb picks up the flavour of the bacon and the mushrooms, Do it wrong and it\'s like a platter of cardboard and grease.

Anyone who\'s had a BHS breakfast can attest to that last fact :yes:

there are only a few things that should be fried.

the normal (fish, chicken, green tomatoes [not really]) and I happen to enjoy fried fresh spinach leaves as well.

The fried toast with some strawberry jam--divine! Oh my god that was part of the breakfast at the International Student House I looked forward to in the mornings! It was awesome!

Me and the wife are quite partial to Oreoshakes but we add a good helping of Baileys and top it with fresh cream.

Vanilla Icecream, 2-3 Oreo cookies, Baileys to taste, chuck it in a blender and then top with fresh cream. YUM YUM.

Only thing I\'ve ever seen us fry is Fish N\' Chips and a good old \"English fry up\" breakfast, and ahhhhh thats so good to have with a cup tea in the morning, to many of them though and your soon be a tubby little piggy.
Though there was this one time when it took me almost 40 mins once in London to find a Fish \'n Chippy for a Swedish friend who came to stay with me who had never had it before. But was well worth the 40 mins.

well the couple times I\'ve been to london it did seem like there was a good amount of fried goodness going on but you have to find some of the pubs and get some of the local dishes like bangers n mash, ploughmans lunch, steak and kidney pie, mmmm

If you want a DYNAMITE steak and kidney pudding (made in suet (pudding) not in pastry (pie)) the best I\'ve ever had was in a small Pub in a town called Monmouth on the England / Wales border. Me and my old kayaking friends went there and I swear to god, I\'ve never had anything better since. That and a pint of Guiness went down a right treat.
I suppose though, I go up London a fair bit now days that I don\'t take notice of the Fast food areas. Hence me missing the Fry ups

well does street food still exist? I keep hearing about how great it is to get fish n chips from a street vendor that\'s wrapped in newspaper but I have yet to be able to find any in London. I\'ve been twice now and have trekked all over the city and still no street vendors with the mythical great fish n chips!

I\'ve only ever had that 1 time mate, that was in Highbury out side the \"Highbury and Islington\" tube station.
But most times now the \"street\" food are in these like, trailers (Picture below). Most are now called \"daisy\'s Dinner\" or something similar.

hmm interesting I\'ve never seen any trailers like that in the city before. So I guess street food is a thing of the past? I mean I\'ve had some decent fish n chips in london but really nothing better than what I\'ve gotten here back home on the East Coast (that is a popular dish up north where my mom is from).

I\'m curious as to what parts of London you\'ve been too, I\'m guessing more like the West End and other such tourist areas?
If your desperate to see these street food people, you ideally wanna go near areas like parks, Arenas and stadiums (Londons not short of them) as they are usually about when supporters of teams make their way to their grounds.

mm no not necessarily, if you look at a map of the tube stations I\'ve been everywhere in zones 1, 2 and 3 just about. I mean when I go sight seeing I go look for the kinda smaller off the wall places. Plus one of my visits I did visit UCL since I would like to do my doctoral work there. But I really have been to so many different places, I would sleep just a few hours when everything was shut down but as soon as things were open and people buzzing I was up and out.

I\'m stumpted as to how you\'ve missed these street foods then :S I see them more less all the time where ever I go.
Next time your in the UK give me a bell, I\'ll take you to a football game and for that reason alone your see lots of these trailers about nothing like a burger / fish n\' chips with a cup tea before a game.

And if you are ever in the Manchester Area the same goes.
I\'ve located a couple of really good Asian (Indian) Cafe\'s only a couple of steps away from the Arndale Centre.
How I know that they are good is that the last time we were in, my wife & I were virtually the only Europeans.
Great Food, Great welcome, Great value, rice, three curries and a Naan bread for about a fiver.

Oh and Fish & Chips only really taste good out of a newspaper, walking along the sea front.
