Hi gilmour,

for the rust i use a waterd down bestial brown, i wipe most paint off my brush using kitchen towl so it dosen't leave any pools of paint on the model. just use lots of layers to make it smoother

Very good colors! The rust works good with the green armour, which is why you are using I guess..

for something like that, i would paint the red, then do the pattern in the lighter tone, making a tad lighter than you want it, then wash the shadows

I would dread doing something as intricate as that and then having to wash over it lol. Great marine buddy. I would definately love to see what you come up with for your freehand pattern. I recently watched the natalya melnik dvd and she did wash over a texture she painted onto the cloak so i would guess she does the same for her freehand design as well.

Lookin' good Buzzin :good:

The thought of painting fancy patterns over a nicely blended base scares me, the washes over the pattern are a long way down the line! Good luck with it, should look very special indeed.

Cheers, B.

Thanks for all of your comments , i think il leave the free hand for a bit untill i have finnished the wepons. i have started the plasma pistol but cant decide on wether to give it a blue or red glow?? any ideas , or should it just blue.

I vote for a blue glow, since a red one might interfere with the red of the cloth. Also, I would think a blue would give a nicer contrast with the yellow stripes. But I`m a noob with 0 minis posted, so don`t take my advice too serious :-D
Bloody great by the way, I`m loving the face!

Definately blue for the contrast as mentioned above.
I think blue is a more plasma color anyways, i have tried red but it never look's quite as good as blue.
It's a nice looking marine btw. I like the metals very much and the face also looks really really good.

Well... The plasma we handled in school was very, very white, with a blue tint to it... Oh, and it went red/yellow where it hit any kind of matter and cooled down to flame temperature... But then again that was just plasma made from ordinary oxygen, not some fancy other gas. :)

i have worked more on the wepons and i have decided not to give him a banner as i want to concentrate more on the wethering and freehand on him.
