Well those were pretty good movies in their own right, and I think on paper they make decent prospects for movies because the concept 'makes sense' in the wider scheme of things. But a Thor movie was certainly way down the list of must-do movie adaptations for me since the underlying idea is something I have trouble taking seriously in the first place.

Einion

There's an underlying idea?

Sweet, another movie I won't watch. Thor will be on that list. I am hoping for a good Captain America movie but will not be expecting it. I am getting tired of movies that are nothing more than an excuse to show what computers can do, without any real story behind it. Anyway, this trailer looks like one of those. I am not against another actor playing Conan, but it just didn't feel like a Conan movie.

I easily give Thor an 8/10 and compare it favorably with Iron Man. It's a tough character to make a decent movie out of but I feel they did a very good job.

Realistically, due to the fact that these are comic book characters who have been around for ages, it's better if they cut back on the story. Most of the story lines were tosh anyways, but pretty much any story close to the Thor or Ironman comic stories would probably look like a B movie anyways, and a straight to DVD bad movie at the worst.

I meant the Conan movie seemed liked an excuse to show off CGI, I expect most comic movies to be that way. They can't all look like Dark Knight!

Since we are often of like mind on this Marvel goodness, I'm back to being excited for Thor! WOOT!

The original Schwarzenegger Conan is a classic, Arnie at his cinematic peak for me.

I think the actor for this new version fits fine- brooding/imposing, but some of his enemies look a bit 'stock', still be tempted to go see it.
Posters look great also.

Thought Thor was excellent and on a par with, but quite different to the Iron Man movies. Oddly my bro (who normally has similar tastes) didn't go for it.

- We were both in agreement that Predators was a pile of cack however !

Conan looks okay. If it looks like B-movie schlock, I think that's fine. That's what the books meant to me anyway. Which is entertaining for sure.

Thor is a tough one to pull off. As Einion said having a God as a superhero is kinda iffy. It's a lot easier I think to "sell" a Batman or Iron Man than to itch an actual God at the audience. I think Thor pulled it off. I was owrried about people going over the top for their acting (cough... Sir Anthony....) but everyone managed to keep it in check and push the story rather than try to promote their talents. I really enjoyed it.

Then again I liked Predators. I mean c'mon!!! It had a guy jump on the back of the predator and call him a "Space Faggot" while working him over with a shiv. One of my all time cinematic highlights!

Hmmm, looks like they employed the guy from the Sorbo Hercules series to choreograph all the fight scenes.......this one thing may totally ruin the film for me :( I bet its a 12A aswell = guff made for kids.

i miss the old sword and sorcery movies. even if it is very generic "action hero" type stuff, i look forward to it. seems like they went a little too "epic" with it though - most of conans stories were very... intimate and gritty.
