as some of you may have read i received an SKS for christmas. on the receiver beside the serial number stamping (as well as all the other serial number stampings apart from the serial number scribed on the gas return) is stamped KЛ does this meen anything to any of you? KЛ 613 is what it shows on the rifle.. this is a bit of a stumper to me which kinna sux as i love finding out the history of old rifles

My guess is a military prefix. It's not uncommon for there to be one next to a serial. Would be interesting if it had other connotations though.

Those letters mean "KL" in Cyrillic. My guess is that it is part of a series of SKS's made in bulk. KL, as far as I know, were not used in the Tula manufactories. There were other Soviet Bloc countries that made SKSs, like Bulgaria, Romania, and Yugoslavia. China makes them as well, but since the letters are not in Chinese, than that narrows it down to Eastern Europe.
