Cameras

Whelp, I\'m finally going to cave in and buy myself a digital camera. I\'ve been putting it off for a while now, mostly borrowing friend-owned cameras when I needed them for something special, and using the three MP one on my phone for other stuff. I\'d really like to get my work up here though, and start taking halfway decent pics of things that grab my eye. Only problem is, while I\'m pretty tech savy when it comes computers, phones, gaming, tvs, etc. I know almost nothing about digital cameras. So I thought I\'d ask what you guys (and girls) use.

I basically just need something that takes good macros and night shots. Hopefully in the $200-300 range. Any help is appreciated.

Good luck with the night shots part of that for your budget. Macro is easy - most compacts do that part pretty well.

This is about the best digital compact for low light at the moment:

Panasonic LX3

As you can see it\'s a bit more expensive...

There\'s dozens of threads on this subject in the photography section.
My advice would be to read there.

I feel pretty silly, I never even noticed there was a section on that here. I\'ll check those threads instead though, thanks.
