Can games be made into good movies?

I\'ll give it the benefit of the doubt, for now.
But movie trailers are capable of making almost anything look good....
Example:
Trailer version:
Major Reese: What do you think, General?
General Wilmont: It\'s curtains for sure! That will be the end of it....
Cinematic version:
Major Reese: Well, the blinds offer the advantage of being easier to install, but the curtains will really go much better with the rest of the decor in the living room. What do you think, General?
General Wilmont: It\'s curtains for sure! That\'ll be the end of it. No more interior decorating at the cottage.

I think most games have a really Shite director and movie company that attempts to make them.
I think the true test will be when Peter Jackson (a fantastic director and movie maker) helps with the production of HALO, if that film is crap with his help, then I would quit with the movie - game thing there and then.

The original Star Wars board game, I remember playing a lot, when I was little. Was it good? Not really. Was it fun?

Dungeon and Dragons II was actually worthwhile. I saw iton SCI FI channel a couple of months ago. Clue was funny. It was based on a board game, does that count?

The SW starfighter sim VIDEO games were fun - \"X-Wing\", \"Tie Fighter\" and \"XvT\". I spent ages playing the latter two, and they had great graphics and physics for the time(s). \"Dark Forces\" and \"DF2: Jedi Knight\" were both fun first-person shooters.
A movie licence is often used, however, to peddle a redundant/shite game. AKA \"most other SW games\".

I have yet to see a decent movie made off the back of a comupter game. But the trailor for Silent Hill looks good.

I\'ve been waiting a long time for this film. To me the game itself would work better for a film as they are designed to be cinematic themselves, and for the player to get immersed in the story rather than the action.
I\'m just hoping it doesn\'t turn into a monster fight fest as that isn\'t the aim of the games at all.

Well with the risk of being the odd one out I did not like the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Loved the first one thought the second was average and the third was just painful!
Bad Taste is still Peter Jacksons best movie - god damn it is funny.

Movies based on video games are arse. Peter Jackson is only producing Halo, so there\'s plenty of scope for a howler. He\'s due a large fall as well...
Silent Hill is the sort of game that lends itself to a movie. But we all saw the pish that they turned Res Evil into. I\'m not holding my breath.

Well, guess we won\'t know wheter it\'s good or not untill we watch the movie.
There are good directors and bad ones. Say, Final Fantasy Advent Children (the PSP movie) is really good, but Uwe Boll has a strange habit of making dreadfull films. So it just depends on the people who make it. Why should a game be more different than a book or a remake of a film?
