Can i beat Lizcam

you may have seen Liz posting her WIP pics for a comp. well this is my entry for the same comp so i am looking for some feedback for any improvements to it. i have tried to adjust the light levels (i use gimp) but still doesnt look quite right so any photo help would also be appreciated

Looks very nice, though I can\'t really say which will win unless Lizcam was done and I could judge properly.

At the risk of slitting my own throat in the comp I\'d have to suggest you do some side lighting to eliminate the background shadows. Use a top light and one on each side, all filtered with vellum or paper, and you should have an edge. Now see? I can be nice when I want!

yep it is a rose tattoo dan, my little homage to england being in the rugby world cup final. i often think orc may have a softer side really!! anyway would you want to tell him it looked silly?!?!
as for beating liz i dont mind either way, it\'s just good fun but i thought putting her name in the thread would attract some attention!!

The mini looks pretty spot on. I\'d say Liz has the right idea, work on your photo rig to get a bit better pics to up the score.

Top pic has lots of focus issues. Narrow the aperature to increase the depth of field. Be sure to use a tripod. Look in my sig for a link to dragon minis for a home-made photo booth that really helps. I built my first one with a window sheer and a bit of dowel sticks I had laying around.

Very shiney though which always distracts.
Also the focus issue may be avoided by adjusting the f stop on your camera, something I am just discovering.
As for beating Liz..... easy she is just a girl.

This is a really nice piece. the only problem I can see is on the sword. The paint seems a little thick other wise a really great paint job. love the tat.
