You can.
Is it game legal?
I have no idea.
But do it anyway, just to see how it looks.
We like new ideas, here.

In White Dwarf Dirty Steve (the mail guy) answered someone who asked if women could be space marines. Dirty answered that they couldn\'t, but I would still look cool!

Women In Space Marriens

As far as Rules go... Its a conversion Model Is it at least (i think) 50% gw or Scratch built go for it...

NOW for the fluff...

Resorting to the Witchhunters Codex, women serve the Emporor because they are uncorruptable like men (dont know why, its the fluff) The SoB have whipped out several chapters throughout history causing sever distrust in other chapters.

SO a woman that is chosen as the Emporer\'s Champion would definatly look suspious to the SoB as well as other chapters...

Now reverting to Black Templar, These are representation of the Templars that where sword to protect the pilgrim roads of Jerulism... Holy Warriors... Now in 40k they kind of have the same roll, where women knights no... but there have been knight like exceptions... Jehanne d\'Arc for example... but remeber she was excumunicated and killed after her battlefield usefulnes had expired... These exceptions are far and few between though...

If you where playing in most games I dont think people would care... games day or other events where the Winning Army could be published... It would not be acceptable so it depends on where you play and who you play with...

So really HAVE a good Story to explain why if the fluff nazi\'s get on you, but other than that... do the conversion... It would be fun even if you dont play it sometimes...

Just keep the head interchangeable - have a male head to use for \"Chapter approved\" gameplay or with rules nazis. No need to have a different torso - a woman would have to be VERY well-endowed to not fit in a standard marine cuirass.

Just to be clear, she was excommunicated and burned at the stake after being captured. Which means she was done in by the enemy. Her own side on the other hand never turned on her (though they didn\'t do much to rescue her) and eventually got her named a saint by the Pope.

Doesn\'t a women need to have two miracles proformed after their death to be \'classified\' as a Saint.
??? ....Or something like that?
I just heard something like that once and i was wondering whether it was true or not.

In 40K? Naw just the ability to never actually leave the battlefield for more than one round...

In RL? I think any Saint has to have performed 3 miricals... and useally it takes Decades to get them to sainthood... Watch the events around Pope John paul III he will be a saint within 10 years...

Apparently you heard correctly.
Here\'s what How Stuff Works has to say:
First off, the process can\'t begin until at least 5 years after the candidate\'s death.
\"Here are the steps that must be followed:

1. A local bishop investigates the candidate\'s life and writings for evidence of heroic virtue. The information uncovered by the bishop is sent to the Vatican.
2. A panel of theologians and the cardinals of the Congregation for Cause of Saints evaluate the candidate\'s life.
3. If the panel approves, the pope proclaims that the candidate is venerable, which means that the person is a role model of Catholic virtues.
4. The next step toward sainthood is beatification. Beatification allows a person to be honored by a particular group or region. In order to beatify a candidate, it must be shown that the person is responsible for a posthumous miracle. Martyrs, those who died for their religious cause, can be beatified without evidence of a miracle. On October 20th, 2003, Mother Teresa was beatified. She will now be known as Blessed Mother Teresa of Kolkata.
5. In order for the candidate to be considered a saint, there must be proof of a second posthumous miracle. If there is, the person is canonized. \"

Their armour is smaller and more closely fitting than the Marines\'. I think most female minis are overendowed anyway, I know this hobby has a fine old tradition of cheesecake but seriously, female marines with protruding chestplates would look really silly... Most women barely \"stick out\" in modern soft military garb, certainly not in a flak vest, let alone a hard suit.

Women are best as they are, all sizes and all shapes that Nature has allowed them to develop.

Look at what JP2 did durring his life, and tell me he doesn\'t deserve the recognition....

As for a female Emperor\'s Champion I say go for it and forget what other people say about it. I was planning on basing an army around a female saint after reading the Gaunts Ghosts series (saint Sabbat is friggin awesome).

I also don\'t think an emperor\'s champion and a saint are near the same things. Compairing an emperor\'s champion and Saint Sabbat is like compairing apples and gold (Tottaly different things). I see the Emperor\'s champions as like Paladins among warriors. They exemplify the imperial code.

i think that it was basically stated that they either wouldn\'t give the genetic enhancements given to men to become SMs, or they could\'nton a women.

Brushlicker and Freak!
Er... you\'re getting really baffled here, let me sort you out.

YES YOU CAN DO THAT.

There are a million reasons why you can and absolutley NONE why you can\'t.

Anything else is a pointless discussion about fluff (though see below).

As far as rules go, the following applies \"This female, dressed in space marine armour \'counts as\' an Emperors Champion\" mkay?

End of story.

Glad I could clear that up for you all...

Resorting to the Witchhunters Codex, women serve the Emporor because they are uncorruptable like men (dont know why, its the fluff) The SoB have whipped out several chapters throughout history causing sever distrust in other chapters.

Where on earth did you get this? I have never read anything like this in over 20 years of GW fluff reading. I guess I might have missed it int he codex, I\'ll go have a look tonight.

OK firstly in RT there were female space marines, I have the 2 minis they made.

Later marine chapters have been all male (I can\'t actually think of a single female marine in any of the the later fluff, but I\'ve not read everything).

SoB are NOT marines, they are not genetically enhanced in anyway, just highly trained and devout warriors. The reason they are used as the warrior arm of the eccelisarchy is because of the ban on them having male warriors, its a literal interpretation of a law that was supposed to make it impossible for the eccellisarchy to have warriors.

Within the fluff, it would be reasonable to assume any of the following:

1) Women can\'t be made into marines for genetic reasons.

2) Women can be made into marines, but aren\'t due to religous/superstitous/law reasons.

3) Women can and are made into space marines, just not as often as men.

Yes these are contradictory, but then a lot of 40K fluff is.

The bottom line is that you can do whatever you want. I could use a robot as an emperors champion, or a giant fluffy rabbit if I really wanted. As long as my opponent knew that it was an emerors champion and it wasn\'t too confusing for him it would all be fine and legal even in a tournament.

If anyone complained, then I suggest you submit them for mind scrubbing for being sad useless individuals that need to get over themselves and get a life.
