can you spray paint foamcore?

In a word yes.
However, you will need to paint the edges by hand first, i.e. if you wanted to spray he whole thing GW Chaos Black as an undercoat fr istance then pait any dges of the foam core first then spray the rest of it. te paper/plastic coating on the main flat surfaces will take the solvents in the spray but the edges will not until they have a layer of paint on them first
If you are not sure then spray a scrap piece first.
Edt: Search the UK GW 40K site around the black teplars area as tey made a step by steep ruined temple using foam core and sprayed it up afterwards.

Testors spray paint does not eat foam, at least the flat black doesn\'t. There\'s also a brand here in the US called MasterCraft (I believe, that\'s it, I\'ll look tonight) that you can get in craft stores that doesn\'t eat the foam either.
I\'ve also heard that Krylons new Fusion spray paint doesn\'t either but I\'ve not had the chance to find out myself yet.

The paper on foam core will be ok to spray paint on. But the exposed foam will be eaten by normal spray paints.
GW (supposedly) and Krylon water based spray paints are ok to use on foam and will make a seal coat in case you want to use something else.
