Hi Everyone!
Mark Soley (Agent Venom) and I have been working really hard to organize some painting events for everyone! We have heard the same thing again and again from Australian and New Zealand painters: since Games Day pulled out, there really isn't anything to paint for.
Well, we wanted to change that. We've done a massive overhaul on the CanCon Painting Competition, now renamed, The Crystal Dragon. It's an Open Format painting competition which helps foster a more cooperative painting community while still giving everyone a competition to look forward to. Open Format means that there is no limit to how many Golds, Silvers and Bronzes can be handed out. If the entry meets the standards of a certain level then it will be awarded. We are handing out elegant certificates with wax seals of the corresponding award color.
Then there will be a Judges' Choice award as well as a Best in Show award. These two will win Crystal Trophies and Cash Prizes as well as a few painting related goodies we've had donated. And we aren't forgetting the kids too! There will also be a Best Hatchlings Award which will also be a cash prize. The full rules are posted below. Please read the entire PDF before asking questions.

Speed Painting is an event I'm bringing over from GenCon. It's the same format as I have experienced and helped to run at GenCon over the last 10 or so years. Bombshell Miniatures will be sponsoring the event and providing Prize Support. Each round is 45 minutes long and you will be supplied with miniature, brushes, paint, a single paper towel (use it wisely) and of course, some spectators and hecklers! This is a safe and fun event for people of all ages! Full rules are below!

The Painter's Lounge is a new addition. We will provide tables, chairs and powerboards where people can set up their painting stuff and paint in between classes or events they'd like to participate in. We heard from a lot of painters that there just isn't anywhere for them to sit and paint and socialize. We wanted to fix that. We are asking for a $2 coin each day from attendees to help us cover rental costs as well as support the Crystal Dragon Competition.

Please let Mark and I know if there are any questions. We ask that if you are not affiliated with the events, please do not answer questions. Mark and I want to make sure that only the most accurate information is presented to the community.
