Mask and being a tidy kiwi is most important with little ones.
Oh man I would love to do something like that, Might have to do some research and see if there are any uber painters in NZ that do classes.

So some thin line gold NMM its quite tricky getting the transition on such a thin band but its not too bad I think I will push a bit more white.

cant decide on the shaft of the hammer.

The gold looks good to me too, especially on the knee pads. Nice and dark. Maybe some tiny pure white dots to give it that reflection look? Maybe work on the black highlights first to see where that comes out at.

What do you think about red over black checkers for the shaft? Too much?

checkers are a fav of mine, but VERY hard to paint :nailbiting!:

I for one don't mind painting checkers. I think it is easier than painitng NMM. My checkers may not be perfect though. I guess it is more mechanical and sort of meditative. I start with thin layers and clean them up as I go. I paint one color solid first and then the darker color over that then glaze the whole thing to get a shadow or high light - no harlequin for me, yet! Anyhow, I think a couple of rows of checkers fading into a solid color might be just the ticket! Checkers and a blend :) Luckily Mr. Fontaine has a tut:

Oh dear god NO checkers! I did checkers on a harlequin mini and they must have been about 1mm each and the material was on the leg so lots of shading and contours it drove me f*****g nuts! Avoid like the plague is my honest advice.

I do need to tackle the armor but Im just not feeling it at the mo.

On another note Im going to have to do some research into the costs of commisions, its exciting that I have been asked and Im amped to do it but I have no idea whats fair and reasonable?. Im just aware that there are way better people out there and Im just good at the local shop level :)

Nice! Not so hard huh? I was worried after Andyg's post that you might be killing yourself with them. They look darn clean.

Don't know how I missed these before. I have to agree with Andy and ten - checks suck. But when you get them right, it looks awesome. And yours look pretty good.

Rune Priest Base
Im going to try something different with the colours on this base as its a little bigger and I want it to reflect the harsh cold nature of Fenris and tie into the Power weapon and runes stones on the space wolf.

After Drooling at the bases at Massive Voodoo and AndyG's Temple base I was inspired to continue with mine. I figure it could do with a skull or two, three, four. . .JK

I had to mix up a teal colour from livery green and the french blue so I played around with adding german grey and wolf grey. I have not highlighted up to white as Im not sure what will happen when I add the snow. As Zab suggested on my blog I can come back later if it needs it.

So here we go, remembering that alot of the base is going to have snow on it :)
