Looks tight! Stencils are tricky but don't give up on them! They get easier. On the other hand, shoulder pads are a pretty complicated shape actually :) Just keep going back and forth on the freehand. Doing it in lots of layers will make it smooth and give you the muscle memory for the other 9 guys in the squad :p

The gold NMM is stellar and a really nice choice for this dude! What color are you going to do the coils?

Cheers, over and over again with thin layers is working well, the tute from Jen Hales site and Volomirs site are well worth a read. Coils will be P3 arcane blue with maybe some darker blue further out, something like that (just because I watched Meg do it that way and I can still remember the process after doing it at the class).

bit more progress on the shoulders, I did have them on the mini for the AB then took them off.
still needs a bit more work on the freehand but like it so far. I have black lined the helm and done a little 2b blending to get some contrast will have to glaze to smooth it out too.

Muffed it, I think I have made them too big most places except the lower legs . .

Fixed it
Made it in to a marble jumble by adding "cracked" black lines out from the chipped parts. photo later my little girl has just woken up.

Well done on the weathering I think it adds depth and interest to the piece. Marked improvement with your painting recently.:good:

Man that looks great! That battle damage is something I strive for. You really seem to have gotten that fine line between cartoon and realistic that works so good for 40k stuff.

This space marine is really pleasing to look at, the clean blends and sharp damage lines make a really impressive effect together. I think it might benefit from a few tiny spots of damage sprinkled around between the big ones though, to round it out. Awesome looking work in this log man!
