Canon PowerShot S2 IS Macro Lens Question

I have a Canon PowerShot S2 and I am looking at getting a macro lens.

I found these links on Amazon and the price doesn\'t seem that bad -
Adapter
Lens

My question is this - do I need the adapter, if so will it work? Also, is the lens worth it? This lens looks pretty cheap. Am I better of not using a cheap lens?
Also, will all of this work on my camera?

I am pretty new to photography and do not know what to look for to see if it will all hook together. I don\'t mind spending the money to buy a crappy lens to test it out but if it won\'t work that would not make me happy.

Thanks in advance!

I wouldn\'t call it a \'lens\'. It\'s a converter if anything. You\'re always going to get lesser quality than if you had a \'proper\' lens on the front of the camera.

Surely the S2 has a macro setting? Dunno why you would want to waste money on that tbh - what is it you\'re wanting to photograph? If it\'s minis, then I\'m sure the cam\'s macro settings will do the job just fine.

Geezer\'s review on Amazon suggests that it might be worth it depending on what you\'re shooting.

Get yourself to a shop and get it tested if you can.

My camera has both macro and super macros settings. It is doing a decent job photographing minis but I would be willing to spend about $30 if I would get better results.

I am having a bit of problems with my lighting even though I have built a light tent and am using three lamps. My models are primarily purple and I think that might part of my problem.

I found a guide that talked about using a longer shutter speed so I am going to try that next.
