Captain Caine by Victoria

Hi, Some of you may have noticed that I have recently been sculpting some brave Pith helmet wearing chaps.
I couldn't resist having a go at Captain Caine to lead them. This mini is based on my first ever GD winning squad (Caine's Cannon Fodder 1999). Some of you may remember this http://www.coolminiornot.com/11766?browseid=4095652
So, as you can see he is sculpted in a style to fit in with a certain range and aesthetic. Also, he is meant to be cast as one piece in metal, hence slightly flat pose. Nothing a little bending won't fix. He'll be released as part of the Victoria Miniatures range in the not too distant future.
I spent way to long sculpting this mini, but at least had fun doing it.
Cheers,
V

That's a great looking miniature! So much expression in the face. Looks like it'd be a joy to paint too!! I'm going to have to paint this mini sometime in the not too distant future. Also, I love the fact that it's a single cast figure (work of art) ~ makes life so much easier! The pose looks great ~ like he's deciding what's the next kick a$$ move to make! Saving a friend in distress? A zillion different scenarios to be drawn from this pose! I'm guessing it'd make a great diorama piece and we all know you're a master at that! Great miniature Victoria! Love it!!!

Nice work. Very colonial. In all honesty, I'd like to see some based on the french colonial marine. Its still pith helmety goodness but a slightly different take. Or maybe I just like the assorted polynesian bits.

Thanks Victoria! Nice of you to say that. One of the main reasons I'll always be a huge fan of your miniature art is because you have your own unique and individual style! For me this is the most important thing to develop once you've mastered, or at least gained a fair degree of competence with all the techniques/theory, etc... I really admire your originality and divine painting/sculpting talents!!! Okay ~ a tad on the fanboyish side. But hey, I'm just being honest. Please let us all know when this miniature is commercially available. I'll be sure to place an order and get to painting the good Captain. Thanks again Victoria!
