Hey guys, I'm kind of done with this mini, i just don't really feel like working on it more. I posted before and asked for some tips to improve, and i tried my best to fix those. But at this moment, this is his final interpretation. Maybe i'll add more later. But let me know what you guys think.

I'm Trying a new photo station, so hopefully the pictures are good! C&C is welcome!

Cheers, Gary.

I paint my thumb.
Looks good. Photos are really dark tough, it would be a simple task to fix this in PS. A bit of a glare also, maybe fixable by changing the position of the lamps.

There's a couple of things that hit me straight off.
There's not enough highlights, and you've slipped red paint onto the gold on his helmet crest in two places.

Regarding the highlights especially on the red cloak it only looks like RED and a shadow, no highlighting on any of the raised sections of the folds.
But my biggest criticism is the face, it's almost as dark as the back banner and as a face is supposed to be a focal point, it just gets lost in the overall similar tonality.

@DragonsReach About the highlights on the cloak, it appears as though the camera has washed out some of it, and made it look more red than it really is. I was however going for a darker tone on most of the miniature. I started this miniature quite some time ago :p and i think my style has changed quite a bit since doing this, but thats mostly what this piece was, a learning piece. When i was working on THIS model, i had thought it to be some of my best work. However, now that i'm working on some of this other stuff, i feel as though this new stuff is better :) I love how this hobby grows, and slowly transforms, becoming more enlightening, and more enjoyable. Thanks for spotting out those two red spots on the helmet for me! it's one of those things, where you work on something for so long, you begin to not notice things about it. (p.s. is the base better this time round ;) )

@ greenone, I absolutely have no computer skills when it comes to editing :p i used photobucket's editing thing to make this a collage(which i was actually quite impressed with) I do plan on making myself a lightbox though, perhaps that could solve some issues? right now i'm just using some lamps with paper taped around them to get rid of most of the glare.

Thank you all though for your comments I do appreciate it, and will use it to better myself :)

Gary.

If you place the lamps side and top, at a front angle, the glare will be less of a problem ( I think you got one in the front no?); but yeah, light box is the thing.
As for shopping, there's one command command you need to remember: ctrl+shift+L; just open up in PS (Or gimp ) and it does half the work... you can also resize the pic and save it as a JPG which can avoid problem with the autosizing in photobucket.

I see you have the same issues I do when painting and photographing!

Looks like you paint from a dark tone, and photographing just doesn't show it off as well as 'real life'.

I really dig the dark style though, it just adds more realism to it. Some of those reds are very rich and I really dig them.
