Carl\'s Jr? In-N-Out? Fatburger?

Opinions on best (larger) burger chain in the US?

I wanted to like Fatburger but In-N-Out were just plain better IMO (both the burgers and the service) and Carl\'s Jr. are very good too, great options too if you want to go a bit more upmarket.

Any others worth a mention?

I will officially murderize anyone that mentions the golden arches.

Not knowing a lot of american burger joints, my votes tied between wendies and burger king, mostly cause I will kill for a chicken bacon cheese BBQ burger rightnow.

I\'d take In-N-Out over Fatburger most days, though they are close. I like the variety Carl\'s Jr. has, as well as the price.

I\'ve always been a fan of Rally\'s myself. Though you don\'t seem to see them as often anymore. My exposure to US burger joints is limited though as I don\'t usually eat when I cross the border.

Couldnt tell you as we don\'t have any of them here. I think most are West Coast chains.

On the other hand Steak and Shake\'s double steak burger ROCKS!!!

In and OUt beat\'s em all. For one thing you don\'t need to spend half an hour figuring out what type of burger or subcatagory of such you want.

Still think the small independants are the best though. A bit more $$ but well worth it............Beer batter onion rings!!:bouncy:

XXX burgers used to span the US but has been reduced to one location in Issaquah as far as I\'m aware. By far the best burger joint around. I do like fatburger for the price. Carl\'s JR and In-n-out aren\'t this far north. We have Kidd Valley around here and they aren\'t bad either.

However, I must say that despite my devotion to In and Out, Red Robin makes a far superior burger. I\'m not sure if it\'s the liquid crack cocaine they coat the grill with or perhaps it\'s the delicious babies they sacrifice to the gods of ultimate burgerdom.

If you take into account the fact that In and Out uses actual potatos to make their fries or that their shakes are made from God\'s own ice cream then they win, but if you\'re just talking burgers... Red Robin.

That was the hardest part of leaving California. No more In-N-Out.

For those of you unaware, they make their french fries with something you can buy at a kitchen store. Put the peeled potato in, drop the lever, out come fries. The guys and girls behind the counter actually CUT the potatoes into fries. None of this baggie-fries that you might find at a bigger chain, and I\'m including Red Robin probably with that type. For a simple burger, fries, and a shake, it is In-N-Out, hands down.

But then, sometimes, that Royal Red Robin just has to be consumed. What\'s not to love about a burger, bacon, and a freakin fried egg? Heaven!

I can make a burger on the grill that will bring you to your knees....

Cheaper, fresher, better.

As a West Coast kid, I gotta go with In N Out! Fast, fresh, and TOP SECRET MENU! (Animal Style Fries FTW)

However, I\'m curious where the east coast White Castle supporters are?

Nationwide, I have to give the title to CJ\'s at the top of the burger heap. However, this is only because I don\'t put Red Robin in the same catagory with CJ\'s, In N Out, and the other fast food places. My fiance` said Ruby Teusdays makes a mean burger... no idea myself.

Thanks for the mentions of Red Robin, will give them another shot next time I\'m Stateside. I have had one (in Portland IIRC) but I don\'t remember it being spectacular, coulda been distracted though.

I used to think the same, until I\'d had some decent burgers out. On the off chance that you\'re imagining anything like McD\'s standard we\'re talking about a lot better than that, not least the quality of the beef by itself.

Carl\'s Jr. also has the Six-Dollar Burger (doesn\'t actually cost six bucks BTW lol) which is 100% Angus and comes in a couple of varieties. Veeery nice.

That can be good when one is feeling suitably carnivorous, and when the beef is good enough (specially with nutmeg in the mix, mmmmm). But pricey using beef of a really good cut; worth it as a treat though. One of these days I\'ve gotta make one from fillet, just to see... although then you maybe want to think about making the buns from scratch too.

Best burgers I\'v ever eaten were in Paris last summer. My god they were good. Ask Tim, I ate loads of them!

Here in England best I have been to is Fine Burger Co (or something along those lines) on Oxford Street in London and another similar one in York.
I just hope the \'Gourmet\' Burger places reach up to Newcastle soon.

Then homemade, with a nice hand full of Aberdeen Angus and loads of herbs.
