cars and zones and dice, oh my

Yes, I know, this is my third question in an hour, but this is the first time I've lived long enough to test out the gameplay mechanics

when driving a car, the rules state,
A car that enters, exits, or goes through a zone runs over everybody who is in it. the player who controls the driver rolls one die for each miniature in the zone the car leaves, moves through, or reaches...hits are assigned following the priority order, just like a ranged attack.

my question is this: is the dice roll per zone? (the way I've been playing it) or is it per action? The situation (as it stands right now) I'm about to drive through a zone containing the abomination, and into a 2nd zone with 2 runners and a walker. Should I roll 1 die and then 3 dice, or 4 dice, with no hope of killing the runners because they are protected by the abomination?

I would say per zone. There doesn't seem to be any reason it wouldn't be. So the abom protected nothing, but you roll only 3 dice for the others, and at least one runner is likely to survive.

I agree with Droganis.

However, strictly speaking, I think you should do it as so:

Move car into first zone.
Roll 1 die.
Move car into second zone.
Roll 3 dice.

But, because you can't kill the Abomination with the car, I would just ignore the first Die roll, move the car straight into the second zone, and roll 3 dice.

And, had there been any killable zombies in the zone the car started in, you would roll before moving the car.
