casting resins?

has anybody have any idea`s to some casting resins and their supplyers in the uk ...i`m looking at casting some of the hirst arts building moulds.. so rather than casting in p.o.p, something more durable is required any help would be appreciated....cheerz n beerz....???

Tom...............you of all people should know dental plaster is the best stuff.If you look on the Hirst Arts sit there is a tutorial on how to use the stuff.
I suspect resin will be more expensive than the dental plaster you can get.It might be easier to work with after though.
If you use resin then go for a polyurathane type.I dont know about chemical reaction with the rubber of the moulds though.???

I also remember reading on the Hirst site that casting in resins will severely shorten the life of the molds.

.......it`s only as good as the lunatic using it and in my case i`m on a loser ....some of the future plans may include making my own moulds so i can knock out bases and the likes ..may work out cheaper in the long run (i hate scrubbing slate n rocks lol)..cheers for the link mark.....i think one of my reps may deal in the smooth on series its just which one to use??? he`s due in the next couple of months...brushes??

Polyurethane will knacker your Hirst moulds pretty quickly - the exo-thermic reaction buggers up silicon and at nearly £20 a go, I\'d advise using plaster.

It\'s cheaper.
It\'s less noxious - polyurethane is vicious stuff filled with isocyanites.
It\'s easier to clean up after casting.
You can chip it and distress it really easily and it looks cool.
It has a better texture for scenic pieces.

@Tom......brushes.....Im still using the first one............actually Wards near the Fed Brewery have started selling them at £6.40 for the size1....Like I say though the ones Ive got will last forever.
