I'm the type of person whose hobby attention span works like this: paint for a week, shelve it all for three months or longer, repeat.

So I figured it was high time that I actually made an attempt at consistency, so I thought I would try and keep myself accountable by keeping track of my glacial progress.

What we have here is a guardsman minus an arm. Poor bastard. Anyways, the cheekbone looks hella bright on the screen, but isn't nearly as noticeable in person...that said, I think I'm going to tone the brown line down now that it's screaming at everyone. This is just a test-mini, but I like the classic green and brown look.

As far as army composition goes, I really have no clue what I'm doing, but I really want to incorporate this guy in there some how:

I call it the Valkyrie GSX (Gun ship platform). I'm not sure if adding the missile pods is game-legal, but I'd love to have the punisher cannons with rocket pods attached. We'll see.

Slow updates to follow.
Cheers.

That's a good point, thanks. It would be simple to magnetize whatever sits on the end of the wing tips without much hassle.

So I haven't picked up a paintbrush in months, what with moving down to Louisiana from Minnesota so I could start graduate school, but I needed a little play-time so I set up shop in our apartment's spare bedroom. I've got the cab on this side pretty much finished, and a decent start on the back-stacks/engine (not pictured) and the legs. Hopefully try and get a little further with the legs tonight, but I have load of regressions to run (yuck). Would love thoughts on the camo pattern. Is it too busy?

I see nothing wrong with the camo. If anything, it could use another color, but that may make it too busy.

Looks cool, love catachan.

As for the vulture gunship, adding punisher cannons takes up both wing slots for weapons so no rocket pods aswell.

Thanks guys.

Just a little bit of progress...have the base layers down on the gun with a bit of highlighting. Sadly the depth of the metal got lost in the picture (still needs a wash and proper highlights), but the ugly hoses sure did not. Not sure what color they need to be. Don't love the brown on them, but with a little more work they might turn out passable I guess. Would black look better?

(oh, and thanks, marjedi, for the tip about the rocket pods.)

Brightened up the metals a bit...but the brightness of the barrel looks a little off from the rest. Hrm. Might need to add a layer to the barrel. Anyways, think this is about done. Wondering if I should highlight up against the black lines (of the camo that is)?

Early stages. Trying to work on blending on the face (arms only have a basecoat and drybrush). Not that great, but it's a start. Have made a bit more progress, trying to keep the layers thin and not go too bright. I'm not shooting for super realistic, but I think the guardsman I originally practiced on was much to elfish in skin tone. Always appreciate C&C.

Hmmm.. I like the flesh so far, the teeth are very bright though, I would suggest maybe tone them down a bit to make it less Hollywood smile and more notoothpastefor1000miles grimace.

Hah! Good point. He looks like he's been munching on a barrel of Crest white strips. Thanks.
