Hey everybody,

im lurking around here for quite some time and finally kicked myself to open up a wip thread to get some input and maybe finish stuff off ;). Im back in the hobby about a year now after a looooong absence since my teenage years. Im getting into sculpting now too because its such a great creative output, as im back now at university and quit my job as an illustrator.

My army of choice are Dark Eldar, as they have always been. Im working on getting a 2000 point army together but due to massive conversions its a slow progress and i often get sidetracked by other projects, which i enjoy more atm.

Currently there is a Chimera on a top of a cave and some things i want to sculpt. Including a demon of slaanesh how i imagine them, GW and me arent on the same page when it comes to being sexy and alluring.....

Pardon the poor iamge quality but my pc broke and the scanner doesnt work with my netbook.

and thrown in for good measure, my first finished mini after the hiatus, a Nurgle Prince converted with wings. I hate the base, but i like some of the painting on him.

Crits are always very welcome and i hope this will be a fun thread with mush finished stuff in the end. :brushlick:

hey thanks Trystan, they actually are leather wings, while scultping i thought hey if you want it to look like leather why not use some of the thick leather straps youve got. It worked out rather nicely, i just cut them, punched some holes in, sculpted some flesh on and primed them.

Some nice looking projects going on here mate! But most of all I like the demonette illustration - really great stuff. Look forward to seeing some full on sculpting of it...

@dfb. thanks for the heads up

oooook, i started the sculped of the demonette. i scaled down the drawing by hand *doh*, because the stupid computerstore needs 2 freaking weeks to tell my what is wrong with my desktop pc...... so no scanner and no photoshop.....

so now at 4 am in the morning in germany im happily sculpting away ignoring the fact that i have to be at university by 10 to have a course with my boss...... ah well some great people invented Red Bull and make up for this kind of scenario.....

This is my start on the project, she is going to be standing 6 cm high. In the background of the pics you see my first run on ths mini, a converted gw demonette which i made for a contest at my local hobby store and dropped it close before finishing after a half day of intense painting and then spending the rest of the night trying to repair it and therby ruining the whole thing, im great at that dropping minis i mean before entering contest.

Its a sideshow collectibles limited edition kerrigan, the queen of blades. I reaaaaaaaly love her and always wanted to paint her up even before i got her.

Hello again,

long time no update but i hardly had any time to paint or sculpt in the last few month.
Luckily motivation returned with a bit of time. i went to the german Games Day last month and it was a nice trip with friends. I was a bit grumpy because i didnt finish anything to enter it into the competition. We where there quite early due to having to load of a staff member. So we sat down and had some breakfast and i started scribbling in my sketchbook when i remembered hmmmm there is the art contest too. So 8 am the morning i started my entry. I drew in the line while waiting to get in, in the line at the forgeworld sale......... while looking at armies on parade and then sat down till 12 am. I am not entirely happy with the outcome, please dont mind the head...... that was like omg its only 10 minutes left..... it is a redesign for the demonette, as i was not happy with the posing when i sculpted her.

On other notes: i am painting a troup of 8 harlequin at the moment and will try to take some photos tomorrow.

Hey thanks everyone :)

I will start this evening, just building the skeleton after deciding to build her to a total height of about 70mm. The only thing is...... do i make a journey tomorrow and get myself something of that new BeesPutty...... not that i have no variety of puttys to choose from......

So a little update, not as much as i wanted but better than nothing. I ran into some unforeseen trouble.... im in bulgaria for a month and the trouble started at the berlin airpot. They didnt want to carry my paints on the plain not even in my suitcase because lo and behold apparently acrylic paint is flammable.... after 3/4 of an hour they gave me the ok to take them with me. After arriving savly i began painting on one of the harlequins ............ then the paint peeled of. Apparently chlorine in water isnt realy good for your paint....

After stripping and and a new start it looks like this, as you can see im not a fan of the overly colourful look, they will be white, dark brown rosted copper, greyblue, turquoise with a bit of red.
On the sculpting site of things i build the basic base and made a mockup skeleton (it didnt survive the flight intact) to see if the hight is looking alright. The tiles and stuff are build from a shell.



..... so much fun....... tried posting it 5 times now..... the internet connection here is a real joy....

Thank you Rothskin. I was very happy on getting the queen of blades :) i began painting here but not much, i need to take it up again when im home.

A small update:

I made the final skeleton, she will stand 75mm high. I tried out another take on building the skeleton, as i didnt realy like sticking greenstuff under my putty. So i remembered my old Gnomon Workshop Dvds by John Brown on Marquette Scultpting. He spinns 2 pieces of wire together and builds the skeletons from that. The spinning gives extra stability and provides grip for the putty. It worked out realy well, to get a even better grip i spun a 0,24 mm wire around.





now off to more sculpting. cheers
