Can anyone give advice on how to sculpt chains?

My advice would be don\'t if you can possibly avoid it! lol Instead, see if you can buy fine chain from a hardware store, or look at the cheap-ass jewlery section of your favourite supermarket. Then use pliers to trim your chosen chain to the right length. Perfect-looking chain, minimum fuss!

as a slight variation after he divides up the GS he squashes down the sides to form the link shape, I\'d push the sides in myself

but if u realy want to sculpt some then roll some putty out into a sausage then put a fine line down each of the outside edges.then take a knife and mark across the inside line (keep as even as u can)
then mark again on the outside line again keep even then do the other side n theres some chain(of course theres only 1 side to it lol) wow its so much easyer to make then explain pm me if its unclear and il make some n take pics for u

any suggestions on where I should look for chain? I was thinking of hitting up Michaels or Hobby Lobby tonight?

I would either buy some cheap chain from a hardware store that sells small chain or jewelry chain if you can afford it.
Or cheat. Take a watch chain and lay it into some green stuff and press it into a mold, and make chains like that whatever link you need.
I haven\'t had to get any yet because I know a guy who knits chainmail so he always has a bit of chain links that just aren\'t strong enough for armor and give me the extra links to use for things.
If you are brave you could try making chains from links like those who make chainmail these days.

i hope to trythis soon. i would have thought it would work adequately, but only be good for one sided chains, ie no danglies

Colleague of mine is due to become a Father again, 4th time. His wife\'s insisting on a vasectomy, (understandable) he however has cold Feet and we at work have been winding him up \"Evilly\".
So I\'ve aquired a couple of Walnuts, Chain is not a problem, a couple of jewellers Loops and a Brooch pin fitting.
Guess what his \"Secret Santa\" present is going to be.
