Chaos cultists squad

Hi
Is it possible in 40k to have a chaos cultist squad with a chaos sm lord as the leader. I am sure that I read this was possible somewhere. If it is then what is the minimum squad size and what restrictions would there be?
I dont have the codices and this is for a legal squad I want to paint.

Thanks all
Nigel

Lost and the Damned is the list you are talking about. Their rules can be found in the Eye of Terror codex. The list can be used, but not in official GW tournaments (in the UK at least) anymore.

I\'m not at my place right now so I can\'t check, but I think minimum squad size is pretty big if they are the only units that make up your troop choices (about 16 or so) but if they are already filled with other units you can reduce that.

The Chaos Space Marine who can lead the squads is a Lost and the Damned HQ choice and called a Chaos Lieutennant. You can take 3 as one HQ choice and split them up to lead your squads.

It\'s a very fun and characterful list overall actually, and you can put in a fair bit of Chaos Space Marine stuff too in a similar way to how allies rules work for Witch and Daemon hunters.

Thanks for that .
So if I was to enter a squad like this in a GW painting comp I could have a chaos marine as the leader.
Can he be in terminator armour?
Can there be a standard bearer aswell?
And 16 models is minimum squad size?
Sorry for all the questions its just that I dont game but I like to make sure I follow GD rules.

Thanks

You could probably do a CSM leader for a smaller less serious comp with no bother, but you could be on shaky ground at a Golden Demon.

The cultists are a Troop selection and the Space Marine is an HQ choice you see... I dunno, might be OK. An email to the events team to check is perhaps a good plan. I\'m sure you\'d get an answer.

I think that the squad would probably look better without a Marine leading it anyway. Just make a nice charaterful cultist leader instead.

Yes there can be a standard bearer, well an icon bearer anyway.

Still don\'t have my codex here so I can\'t check squad size. I think that 10 is OK. Perhaps someone else can help.

If it is for GD, and you are looking to stack the odds of doing really well in your favour, and it is for UK GD, I would steer clear of cultists and pick something much more main range though. The judges tend to prefer stuff that isn\'t from what\'s considered as a fairly obsolete list in my experience.

On the other hand cultists are fricking cool, so what the hell, do it anyway!

Thanks Lono you are my hero rules guy.
I will stick with the cultists. They are something different, I will dig up that lost and damned list and see if it has specifics. The email to GW is a great idea also.
Thanks mate, if you ever want any help from me just ask. :)

No probs, happy to help. I look forward to seeing what you come up with. Any chaos power in mind in particular to theme them to or are they going to be undivided?
