When did GW steal my name?
I don\'t understand. A lot of crazy stuff gets posted online these days, but in the olden days of Rogue Trader you were encouraged to make up your own chapter of loyalists. I don\'t even think the whole Hersay was worked out as completely. There even was a contest in White Dwarf around the time that second edition came out. I created a Chaos Chapter for that contest, but I couldn\'t enter because you had to actually attend Games Day in person. This was back when there was just one Games Day and it was in the UK.
The Howling Griffons won and were featured in White Dwarf and included in official literature maybe a little even. When did my little army even become quasi official? Did some GW staffer steal another idea off of someone else? Most GW ideas come from elsewhere Tolkein, Aliens, Dune, various mythologies.
GW\'s lawyers have never come after me, I know GW printed some of my Necromunda stuff in Citadel Journal once, they asked if they could, but I was never componsated... I should have asked for something more in writing, more than just an email...
As for special rules, I always just use the rules GW makes available, less problems. I have fielded the Diseased Sons as undivided with Nurgle champs in each squad and Plaguemarines as Elite back when that was the only way it could be done, pure Cult armies were impossible for a while. I won more back then too, or at least I didn\'t feel so disadvantaged when I could actually have heavy weapons.
I finally stripped most of those models the other day, now with a new Codex coming out... I plan to repaint them as Undivided, a lot of them were converted loyalists as there was a period of time when no Chaos Space Marines were in print.
Dark days indeed.
