Hey, After learning my space marines probably wont be welcome at my 40k club next year, I\'ve decided to make a small chaos force. I converted a Chaos Lord yesterday with a power fist, combi flamer and jump pack out of some spare bits:

This is the color scheme I\'m going for unless anyone has other sugesstions:

Think that\'s a good scheme? Also, white or black primer? I\'m going to start painting today after I get some responses. I should update a couple times today. Who knows I might even finish. Thanks.

White primer, painting white over black primer is very time consuming. White primer also, in my experienc, gives a better surface to paint on. This is the GW primers, I haven\'t tried any other pirmers.

I really like that paint scheme. Quite bright for chaos, but those golden accents with the spiky stuff makes it look quite cool. Would like to see one of those guys painted!

Well I agree with wot my previous post its cool. one thing you cold do is make half of his face red to further the color scheme.

Well, we\'ve just done the bell of lost souls 30k campaign so everyone was playing marines. I don\'t think that they wouldnt be welcome, but it\'d be nice to have more variety again.

So far, this isn\'t turning out as I hoped it would. Mostly because of the imperfections in the conversion but also because I\'ve decided I really dont like painting on white primer. Don\'t worry though! I\'m going to finish it. Does anyone have any ideas for a symbol?

And finished unless anyone has any more ideas. I know that its pretty rough and you probably cant see the highlights, but what can I say. It was supposed to be a table top mini afterall. But I dont really like it, I feel like I could have done a lot better. It\'s so ROUGH!

I like the idea, but think the colour scheme is a bit bright for Chaos.

I\'m also not a big fan of GW white primer, I always find it a bit grainy.

I prefer doing my reds over a black undercoat, start with mechrite, then paint up with scab and blood reds. I feel it gives a darker blood like colour, rather than bright red. I was going to suggest doing silver instead of the white, but I think that would clash to much with the gold sections.

With regards to an icon, do you have a name for the chapter? That might help people with inspiration for the design

I actually like the color scheme. It\'s a nice change from the grim dark colors that chaos is usually portrayed in. It also complements the skin color well. My only issue is that the paint, especially the red and white seems a bit thick, although that may just be the pictures.

Yeah its not that the paint is thick, its that the primer sucks. Every time I\'ve used GW white primer it comes out like this. All bubbly and stuff in the cracks. Thought maybe I\'d get lucky this time, I guess not.
