[Chaos_Fantasy]_the Rise of my horde

Hi everybody,

just thought i could bring this one up to discussion. It is the start of my project \"The Horde\".

Basic information of this project is my own problem of getting started with an whole army - I\'ll never finished sth. that big. Reasons for that are simple: I have been always bored by painting a lot of same looking figs, also i\'ve been never happy with the difference of my painting style in my last army projects. I am trying to improve with every mini i paint and that has been the reason i canceled mostly every started project. The minis had a different look.

I thought a long time about a solution and the decision went out to a real nasty, chaotic, dark and weird mortal chaos horde. Why? I am feeling the dark gods are with me on this task, because i am free to do whatever i\'d like to do (pure chaos^^).

Main goal on this is army will be the freedom of my soul to use every model i´d like from a lot of different miniature seller, just to have the weird look and follow the strange ways of my inspirational waves. Conversions, mixing them together, different testings and improvements on the skill of painting. Just freedom, but still a look that fits together.

I have managed to paint the first unit in the past 5 months. They will be used as normal undivided Chaosbarbarians, but, and that\'s my reached goal, they look like \"Chaos-Desert-Scum\". The next upcoming unit will be the undivided chaos warriors. I guess it will take the same long time, but i did not started painting yet. Just found some incredible minis that fit perfectly and build up the first 2 ranks. It\'ll take some time. But i\'d like to keep those of you who like this idea informed in this topic.

Ok, enough bla, bla
;) - here is a view on my first unit:

Would be thankful if you let me know what you think about this unit. Hope you like them, comments and suggestions always welcome!

So far - for the dark gods:D

I like the idea and the unit is really good, only thing i can see you having a problem with is your rank through the unit. What i mean is cause of the ogre at the back the unit strength to actual number of models is out of balance. I dont paly really that much at all so im not sure if im right might of just dreamt it up so you might want to ask to be sure. The execution of the idea however is really good and captures the feel your after really well IMO so well done mate :D

@Yetie
Thx for your opinion. I must admit, that you are right. The unit strength might be a problem, but i think i will use him as 4. The main aspect on that unit lies upon the look, not on the playability (i don´t know if this word exists <-- me not english^^)...

@freakinacage
That is also new for me - i will not recruit and arm these guys on rules. Someday - in the future, when the gods have sent me the gift of time and I finished their task i\'ll have to find a nice player to get in on with my ruleless chaotic horde - but that day seems very far... Thx!

@AsgardUK
I´ll try my best to bring up the next unit asap - or maybe first some single steps of them - as i said: I need to find the great gift of time in this chaotic time :rolleyes:

What you could do for strength etc is calculate the amount of wounds your missing using him as a single model etc and calculate that into strength. For example he might take up the space of 3 normal mini\'s so if you are attacked by unit of archers they get 3 kills you take him out as you need to. Hope that helps will have a look at my rule book see what it say\'s later on after work. It would all come down to the opponent things like this can be worked out really, just down to who your playing against and if they care :D

Yupp, you`re right - good idea, but when i find the time to play my opponents are mostly very good friends, which don´t have problems with my weird way of playing^^...

Those 3 wounds sound right, but i think 4 are better (he is an chaos ogre;)) and he takes the place for 4 normal minatures. I think that works out well. As I said, i am not playing very often (once a year or less:|~) and then the enemy is well chosen...

@Hygmer
Thanks to you - i am looking forward to your nurgle squad - keep it up - i had that idea for over one year before i really started;)

That unit is so inspirational to me, thank you for doing it!
If it is possible, could you take some photos of the miniatures, in groups of 3 or so, so we can see some detail. Seems a disservice to your idea of using many different models to then present them as one big unit ;)
