Chapel Floor

Hi all,
just wondering - what sort of patterns would you find on a space marine chapel floor? My mate at school is painting his art coursework and is doing a space marine chapel interior as his project. I was thinking an ultamrines symbol but he said he was doing a dark angels guy- so I guess any of their symbols? Or perhaps some patterns? Really anything that you would find in the 41st millenium so it doesn\'t look so medieval.

Any responses would be great.
Thanks :)

The dark angels have a very biblical image about them, hell even the characters are names in the bible- Azrael and Ezekyle. So I would go for a gothic futuristic monastery feel- especially as it is a chapel he wants to do. Have a look at some church architecture- Mike McVey got this spot on with tis Azrael diorama where the model was in a futuristic church- stained glass and altars but with bulkhead doors and pistons etc.

As for the floor- a mosaic of the imperial eagle or dark angels symbol would work- or maybe even a muriel decipting a heroic battle if he is feeling adventurous. Th give a futuristic feel to it possibly some strips of metal and rivets or chevrons either side of aisle walkways perhaps?

Hope this helps

Thanks Orkydave,
He\'s started drawing the outline and he has put skulls in the pews, iron pews, and sort of grim reaper statues in the alcoves, iron bars across doors, purity seals everywhere - so basically he\'s on the right track. For the floor, he ideally wants to do it checkered dark green and bleached bone, so would the dark angels symbol in a light green outline and then an imperial eagle subtley in the bleached bone look good? That way, it shows the IMPERIUM (SP?) and the Dark Angel symbols. I think this would enforce the 40k feel well.

Thanks for your help OrkyDave!
