Cheap LED lamp from Ikea...

Currently this LED lamp is available from Ikea reduced from £10 to £5. At least it is in the Leeds branch. The LED is not replaceable but supposedly lasts a long time. They are available in white or black and the thing is pretty long and flexible. Although I've not used it for minis yet it seems a good source of light.

They seemed to be selling pretty well (we bought 3 and the people immediately before and after us bought a few each).

[Edit] According to the Ikea site the offer is until 26th October or while stocks last.

I have one I use every day when I am doing miniatures stuff. I wish they sold them here locally, VA USA.

Ya, I live about two hours from that store... and I dont see any way to order it online other than on Amazon for much more.

Bah. Four hour round trip is nothing. Combine a trip to the store with other business in that area on a weekend.

:good: At a fiver you really can't go wrong - that's less than many CFLs so you're sorta getting the lamp itself free! Bit of a no-brainer really.

The quality of the light may be an issue but it's not the end of the world if it's not perfect.

I've got a LED lamp from Target, and also an Ottlite for a better color balance. Works well for me, at least.

Last time I tried a LED light the colour rendition was awful. How are they now?

We use high quality LEDs when we do movies that are ok for that, but not sure for miniature painting.
