An Army Deal. (Or failing that get someone else to buy it for you)
The Dwarves I\'ve just traded for work out at 1400(+/-) points in the boxed set.
Just need to track the points cost for a Few Heros and I\'m ready to roll.

Most of the GW Army deals are a saving on the overall separate purchase, but it\'s still between £100-150 depending on what you want to buy.

I\'d say that rather than look at the cost look at what you want to play and develop the Army list with someone who\'ll help you balance it out. That way you can get the Army you really want.
After that you can get stuff via Ebay or through GW. One thing to watch for is that sometimes the squads/regiments can not be made up easily through the Blister packs and you \'ll end up going to Mail order for the odd numbers.

Good point but im not the only one managing my (meagre) finances, my parents would go ballistic if i spent £100+ on an army in one go even if it was a saving.

Damn sensible people keeping me on the straight and narrow:cussing::)

I guess Army that have very strong unit would be a good guess since they tend to cost more points.
I would guess Chaos for Warhammer...... but haven t played in quit some time .

Chaos can have as few as about 7 models for a 2000 pt army, Lord with mark of Tzeench, couple of sorcerers, a champion, chariot and a couple of other things. But maybe that\'s just being a bit silly.

:D

Chaos, almost definitly for a 2000pt army all you need is:

Chaos army book - £12
Sorcerer of chaos - £6
Champion of Nurle - £8
3x Chaos Warriors(£18ea.) - £54
2x Nurglings (£8) - £16

Total-£96

Thats roughly 2000pts, you could get it all for around £60 off eBay and if you would like the army book for free PM me your email address ;)

True but why spend £15 (the chariot) on 120pts when you could spend £18 (the warriors) on around 500pts

Hmmm, it might be an idea to get an army that people will actually want to play against. Going for an army that has the minimal number of models is going to smell like camembert right out the box.

How about daemonhunters for 40K? I hear they\'re expensive points-wise.

I know it probably seems like I\'m attacking anyone who disagrees with me but I\'m just defending my position, the army I suggested has 42 models in which is around average for a chaos army, maybe 10 models less than average.

Oh and the war mammoth bit I wasn\'t suggesting, the warmammoth being £200 on its own

Noticed you\'ve said no ebay, there are plenty of sites that offer 10-20% off GW prices, or GW online is giving free postage if you buy the army book this week.

Is the war mamoth a forge world rule? It\'s not in the list in the army book.

The problem with damonhunters is that they\'re almost all metal figures so more expensive cash-wise too. You can induct IG but then you need lots more figures.

It is a forge world rule, but I doubt many players would miss the chance to try and take one down, looking at it from the gamers perspective, if he wins he can say he killed a war mammoth, if he loses, he can say its to unbalanced, strong and unfair. Its a win win situation.

Oh, and as I said in my post it wasnt a serious suggestion, just showing how little models you can have.

Ah, brilliant. Been thinking about an army like that, and now they\'re in metal too. :) I hates plastics, I does.

@sigmork: sorry mate, didn\'t intend to get your back up :)

@frenchkid: look, we already know that you french lot are odd, you don\'t have to prove it. ;)

Hmm - depends - are you talking about only playing GW rules and official figs?

If so there isnt a cheap one.

well Id say go with an army that you can get the most of your Units in plastic and take advantage of any of the package deals they offer for example the new Empire support battalion thats coming out soon. You get like 30$ worth of free models that way.

For 40K nothing beats a good ol marine army in my opinion and you can buy it squad at a time or in the battle force box sets.

Ultimately get an army that your going to enjoy the most assemblying and painting and playing with and not a \"Cheese\" seven figure wonder army.

I was only suggesting the cheesy 7 model army for number of figures. My own army is skaven any currently stands at about 450 models.

lol

Well, I got my army for $35 USD at an antique shop so I think I win for cheapest army, but it\'s not a reliable source since I go to antique shops a lot and haven\'t ever seen another one. I\'ve had a few garage sale successes, but probably not an army worth.
