That is one of the disqualified entries.
The Eldar, or the Space Marine on the big lizard?
There\'s now way that the big lizard is a cheat. It\'s so blatantly Scott Bowser\'s style that anyone else entering it would have been spotted instantly... I hope.

Lots of rather nice stuff here. I think I am possibly most impressed with the young blood winner somehow.

Hell i\'m not that good but i still sign and date everythign i paint on the bottom of the base. I even go so far as to fill in the base bottoms so i have lots of space to date and sign. OK not actuallt sign, i just use the kaji for oni on the bottoms instead of my name.

or worse yet, to have been a runner up, and not given a trophy. i wonder if they keep tabs on who was the next runner up? hope the awards get sorted out to whoever deserves it.

Based on the previous dq (06 Atlanta Open Bronze), no awards will be given to runner-ups.

Yanno... I really wouldn\'t mind if they did the presentation at the event but shipped the trophies after official coverage was up. Then, if a cheater is found, they can just ship the trophies to the correct folks. It would suck that they would have to do something like that, but if it means people get the right trophies...

Right now the online community has been REALLY good at catching these things relatively fast. The cheaters have always been caught; just not in time to take back the trophy.

Hah, here\'s an idea. LIVE COVERAGE. So folks can respond the day of the show, while judging is going on.

oh ok. What would happen if I enter a mini by another artist, but entered it FOR him under his name? This is just something I am wondering, not planning on doing.
You\'d be breaking the rules. Submissions are supposed to be painted and presented by the artist.

Sad thing is that this would be harder to catch. If you see the right name matched to the right entry, but the photograph at the event looks like someone else, the first thought isn\'t \"found a cheater\" but \"hey, that doesn\'t really look like X... they get the wrong photo? Did he cut his hair? Lose weight?\" Etc.

I saw this thread and I though about how people could cheat at the GDs and though of this because my friend is never able to go because he\'s always broke.:You could enter this persons model as them and refuse to take pictures. You are able to refuse to take pictures, right? I mean a GD winner could seriously be under Witness Protection.

P.S. I am not a cheater, I just think too much for my own good and ask too many questions.

This is a reallysilly scenario. If you are in the Witness relocation program, I seriously doubt you would risk getting any kind of public exposure just so you can get a Gold Demon.

Lets say that your witness relocation sub plot was legit. Are mafia king pins, and drug lords reading White Dwarf? HELL NO!

Nice idea, but we had a case 2 years ago where somebody bought a model painted by a CMON\'er, removed it from the base it was on and stuck it on another one. He was caught out by the CMON community, but this particular method of safeguarding your work is extremely fallible.

Now if you could somehow work your signature into the paintjob itself, that might work. :)

Surely they should then be moved up a place

Not according to the offical GD website. I just checked and the DQ\'d gold entry is not displayed and the silver and bronze winners are listed as such.

It truly is a shame that someone who finds themselves in this position, can\'t get some justice.:(

hey Jack!

yeah I know, that\'s why I mentioned it.. they should \"name and shame\" the bloody cheating bar stewards

I was talking about the eldar. I believe they were in UK GD. May be mistaken but here is where I got my info.

Check at the end of the first post in the thread.

Well, I once entered a friend\'s GD entry for him, because he couldn\'t come himself. Just handed in the mini and the signed (by him) entry slip... no problem there...???

Really sucks that people cheat like that :( It\'s so sad...

Simple! Look on this site for the miniaure under the name of the original artist! People seem to forget that we get nearly all of the winning and competeing GD entries posted on this site before being entered or shortly there-after.

Well, you\'re lucky your friend didn\'t win anything then (I\'m assuming) since I think if it won a Demon and he wasn\'t there to get his pic taken, his entry would\'ve been DQ\'ed, and also risked being banned from future competitions.

Striaght from the Rules:
Each entrant must complete all of the work ..on any model he or she enters into the Golden Demon competition.

All entries must be personally handed in at the event. ...

Entry into the competition gives Games Workshop the right to photograph and publish details of the models as we see fit.

That last part is for Red7Blue and is idea of refusing pictures. You\'d think the judges would get really suspicious of anybody refusing pictures....

What? How do you do that? I don\'t think the Browse gallery has a search feature for that. Heck, I don\'t even know the real names of most people here.

Simple! I ask Dauber22 who\'s who, he usually knows everybody\'s name, and people tend to be excited by winning a GD and post an announcment on the boards.
