Cheese or Meat?

I certainly like both but cheese is edging slightly over the top. I\'m not really allowed blue cheese in the house because it makes the Mrs. turn violent when she smells it but I do manage to sneak some in occasionally.

I know it\'s not really cheese but if I drowned in a vat of Primula cheese spread I\'d die a happy man:drool:

Meat for me. I guess its a basic male instinct thing, you just cant hunt & slaughter a cheese lol

and ive been to Blackpool once, long weekend type holiday with mates. We were so impressed that we went to Preston on the saturday & stayed there untill the sunday afternoon.

Had we known that the pubs in Blackpool close early on sundays im sure we would have stayed in Preston even longer

Seriously gang? Cheese over meat? I know we\'re supposed to love the variety of our fellow humans opinions and all that crap, but really?

Either none of you guys know how to cook or buy decent meat, or... or... actually I don\'t think there is another option here.

I like cheese, don\'t get me wrong. Like BP said I like it best when it\'s involved with meat somehow. I just can\'t imagine that if someone put a gun to your head and said \"MEAT OR CHEESE! CHOOSE OR DIE!\" some people would say cheese.

Sad thing is I can easily imagine the gun wielding guy asking the question. Okay, it\'s me in my mind but that part seems feasible.

Like if I was at a restaurant and they brought out just a plate of cheese for my meal I would SOOOO be talking to someone in charge and either leaving quickly and quietly or good ole\' plan B), making a scene.

I\'d love to take a trip into some of your peoples heads for a day and go out cheese eatin\'. I am hoping that my mind would be blown and each bite would be like a hug from God. But I suspect that in my own head with the series of vast and uncompromising blocks I\'ve created for myself I will never be able to look to cheese as more then the stuff that makes my meat taste better.

Don´t make excuses Scott - After all you´re 100% right.

Cheese is nothing more than an additive :p

I grew up in the midwest with all my uncles being ranchers.

We\'d go pick out a young steer and the next week we\'d have a freezer full for another 6 months.

And fish is just a reward for a fun day on the boat.

According to some it\'s the cheese you have to worry about most anyway, compared to quality meat.

Can\'t go far wrong with \"everything in moderation\".

As seperate entities cheese and meat are both magnificent foodstuffs. When combined they cam become far tastier than the sum of their parts.

If however, your meat starts to develop it\'s own cheese it\'s probably best to dispose of it humanely :|~

I actually lean more towards SkelettetS\' opinion.
Human society has always had its base food source coming from vegetables, fruit and whatever else we could find popping out of the ground. Meat has always been a complementary food source. When we really started to eat meat we set out to hunt once a year, (hopefully)gathering enough meat to last through the winter(since we couldn\'t store meat efficiently through the summer) and we still had our main food source coming from what sprouted from the ground. It wasn\'t until the middle ages that we actually began to view - and not until the industrialization we actually started to utilize - meat as a main food source. When our trading started to become more globalized and our means of storage became more efficient, -thats- when meat really became a main food source. This was just a few hundred years ago.

When it comes to instincts I think most of us, when we see an apple hanging from a tree or when we see a deer hopping in a field, react quite differently between the two.
We see the apple thinking: \"Mmm, apples...\"
We see the deer and we think; \"Oh, look! Pretty!\" And not until after that(If at all): \"Mmm, deer meat.\"

Making this comparison between the two when in the store isn\'t fair in my opinion since the store as we know it is roughly 100-150 years old.
To me that isn\'t enough time to develop any form of inherited instincts. On the other hand it is well enough time to make us lazy.

Built as we are we can still survive perfectly well on a diet from either family.
Having only vegetables, fruits and berries is a perfectly sound plate.
Same with meat. As long as you eat the -entire- animal. Of course, When I speak of \"meat\" food I do count dairy products, eggs and whatever else you can squeeze out from an animal.
Innards, brains and everything else on the list must go down if you are to lead a healthy life on just \"meat\" food.
There are extremely few prepared to do that in this day though, even most of those calling themselves anti-vegans hesitate when they find eyeballs, marrows or genitals on a plate.

And the fact that you can\'t build muscle without eating meat is a pure myth.

I totally love meat, there is nothing better than that first barbecued steak in the spring. But it would still not be even half as great without that potato salad and cheese...

There. /rant. Time for me to go find something really, really meaty to have for breakfast to make up for my semi anti-meat rant. lol
