Chestnut Ink replacements?

Cake or Death?
So I started painting a warhammer army some time ago, and Chestnut ink was one of the main colors I used on the bases and some details. Then GW thought, for some reason, that the color wasn\'t worthy of becoming one of their new washes, and discontinued it altogether. Grrr.

I want to keep the colors consistent as I paint more stuff for my army, but I have no idea if I can find the same color from a different company, or even make my own.

Anyone have a lead for me to follow?

Coat d\'arms chestnut ink. It is the same stuff as the old Citadel chestnut ink (the round bottles with white flip-top).

I think there are independent retailers that still have inks left. I\'ll check our lgs but I don\'t think there were any chestnut left IIRC. Bought a spare pot myself, lovely with tamiya clear red for blood effects.

Vallejo Game Colour replicate the GW Chesnut Ink too, don\'t they?

Then of course, there\'s always artists inks, dozens of makers, countless colours, at any art shop. Although, finding an exact match might be a bit of a chore. But at least they\'re usually quite cheap, so buying a couple to mix wouldn\'t kill the bank account (at least in the long run).

Winsor& Newton does a nice ink called Nut Brown which is close.. The Coat d Arms is the same stuff as someone else posted..also P3 has a set of inks..not sure there is a chestnut but worth looking at.

I have a pretty new one I never use, you can have it for postage. Couple a dollars air-mail to the US.

Just PM me if you want it.

Vallejo Game Colour inks are excellent. There\'s a brown that\'s almost identical to chestnut and their sepia ink is superb.

Do you remember the specific name of that Vallejo brown ink, or is it just \"brown ink?\"

@Donga - you rock, seriously. I\'ll PM you if I can\'t find a current product to use.
