How would you set the criteria? On-line score? Judgment of the person doing the deleting? What?
[...]
What would be your cut-off score? Anything below 5, since that\'s so-called tabletop quality?
How about this - stuff that\'s over six months old, less than a 4 but not in the \"bottom ten\".

I don\'t think anything should be deleted...
When there won\'t be room enough, maybe CA will ask for \"good wills\", ie. people who will delete some of their own minis.

The problem with that is..

What about all the \'fly-by-night\'s? The people who come here get all excited for a while, post up every damn mini they own and they disappear a few weeks later to take up Pokemon or skateboarding. We\'ll be stuck with their Space Marines for ever. What a chillin thought???

Dr. Bob

but not THAT Dr. Bob
I like the fact that all minis are treated as equal on this site. I wouldn\'t like it if my posts were deleted because they weren\'t \"good enough.\"

If you don\'t want to see the \"bad\" pictures, you can always set a cut off score for browsing.

If Chern Ann does eventually run out of space, though, that\'s a different issue. In that case, I would probably use time rather than score as a criterion for \"cleaning house.\"

Posts older than \"X\" (6 months? one year? 18 months?) could be removed. Perhaps an exception could be made for members, which would make a little more incentive for people to support the site as well.

If you REALLY wanted your mini posted forever, but didn\'t want to spring for the nominal membership fee, you could always keep re-posting every year or so. (Note that the \"fly-by-nights\" would get weeded out this way as well.)

How bout this - If you post minis and continue to visit the site then you can keep your minis up - if you appear, post and dissappear, the mini\'s dissappear after 6 months.

I definitely like your idea... Maybe this, extended over a year for members would be nice...

Yes I think that\'s a good idea too, and I agree with alexgrunt that members should get extra, as they\'re keeping the site alive (thanks guys :))

Here is something it took me a few figures to get, but apparently \"Kolejna Figurka\" means \"another mini\".

The other posts by this person are named the same.

Nice stuff though

[/quote] What about those people who are prolific posters in the forums but from whom we\'ve never seen the fruits of their painting labours. Come on Finn show us your stuff!
Ps I think it\'s time I tidied up my account as well.;)

I really, really, REALLY don\'t think any miniature should be removed without the permission of the submitter.

If you only want to see the \"good\" miniatures on the site, you can restrict your search for only those figures above 7. What that means is that at one point, you\'ll have voted on all the \"good\" figures and you\'ll end up slogging through the rest...

I heard a rumor somewhere that the Finn was actually painting minis - course I also heard about the Cubs making it to the playoffs and some other signs of the second coming lol

My thoughts exactly, right down to the emphasis. I\'m glad you posted this \'cause I was having trouble putting my thoughts into words.:duh:

I know its probably just some good, healthy venting, but things seem to be taking a cruel and elitist turn lately, which bothers me :( \'cause I like this place :)

I disagree with the thought that CMON is getting elitest. As one of the folks who have voted on nearly every mini here, I fully support the right of anyone to post on the site. I also agree with the thought that the flybynights need to be removed.

I\'ve been on other sites where you were dropped after a certain period of inactivity on your account. I dont see this as an elitist action, more as a case of the owner of the site protecting their time and investment - if you are interested in the site, then you will make the time to visit the site - if not you post once or twice and fade.

Sorry for the rant.

Hmmm...

I sincerely hope that there isn\'t a cruel and elitist attitude creeping in. I can\'t say I have noticed this.
I have supported the idea of \'culling\' but only because I am so sick and tired of seeing the \'Website Unavailable\' screen. My explanation for this, as I am using Broadband, is that the site has become so stuffed, it has slowed to a slow chug. If access became faster, the number of images on the site could double as far as I am concerned:D

Actually, my thoughts on creeping elitism is more of a multi-thread thing not just this one. It just seems that lately there have been a lot of negativity, much of it with an undercurrent of being aimed at people \"who aren\'t good enough to bother us by posting here.\"

Instead of pointing out mistakes made by new people, we bitch about the \"problems with newbies\". There\'s been grumbles about there being to many 5 & 6 quality minis posted, as if this was some kind of crime or at least an affront to our sensibilities. I could go on, but I think you get my drift.

People, the dreaded newbies are the lifeblood of our hobby. Businesses that aren\'t bringing in new customers slowly fade away. New people discover minis and/or war gaming. They get excited. They find this web-site. In thier eagerness, they post things. They may not be the highest quality, they may make mistakes, they may not meet certain peoples standards, but if they stop coming, if they get too discouraged, then this place will stagnate!

Sorry about the rant, but I feel better now. That\'s been building up for several days.

Got to agree here Dauber, and I dont have a problem seeing the newbies post. But I got to agree with the Finn also - there are minis that were posted on the site months, if not a year ago, by people who have never shown up again, even if you check their last active on the member list. I think that these are the folks that are driving Finn and several others around the bend.

Yeah, actually, I understand that point and my bilious rant was not aimed at either you or Finn. This just happened to be the place that it all leaked out

Sorry:innocent:

You are quite right...

A good \'heads up\' was called for.
Elitism has no place on this site, *hehehehe* otherwise neither you, me or Mr Cult would be allowed:D
