These are the first two figurines in a set of angels i plan to give my mum for Christmas:
The Angel of Mercy:

The Angel of Music:

I am brand new at this ... in fact, these are my first figurines ever.
One question I hoped you guys could answer would be what colors you would suggest for the next two angels\' clothing?
Should I stick with warm colors, like red and orange?

It\'s a little difficult to judge from the provided pictures. There\'s just too many little shots crowding it up.

If they\'re gifts, then I\'d suggest not asking us, but doing them in colours that your mother likes. If she likes those warm colours, then absolutely, more of them.

I guess if your doing them as a collection, then sticking to the same sort of warm colours would tie them altogether, so they look like a set. Having a couple in warm colours and some in cold/neutral colours might look odd, How many are in the set?

If you could get clearer pictures of the angels it would be easier to see them: have as much natural light as you can and don\'t use a flash. And definately don\'t cut and paste the picture parts and then blow them up (which is my guess as to what you\'ve done), the pixels get all screwed up and that\'s why you see so much blur and not the details.

I would agree with Gapow though, if you\'re trying to make them look like a set, then keep the colors similar to tie them together.

My webcam just sucks at taking stills that close. I\'m working on getting better photos. I tried to get some detail shots in there, but also wanted to keep it to the sizes allowed by CMON.

The whole set will contain 4 Angels and 4 baby angels.
I\'m scared to try yellow though, since it seems like it would be a difficult color to shade!

If you\'re worried about the sizes of the pictures, you can always use an external hosting site such as imageshack or photobucket, then just link to that for now. For first minis they look like a really good start, but some close-ups would be nice!

Yellow is, from what I\'ve read here, among the most difficult colours to do smoothly and well. Don\'t be afraid of it, though. Only through doing (and stripping and doing again, many many times) can we improve.

Practice on sprues and the like if you\'re really worried about it. With time, you\'ll get it.

Yellow is not that hard, I promise!

I\'m not a GD winner, or even close, but I find that yellow is very easy to paint. Its all a matter of deciding if you want the yellow bright or dark and not jumping your blends too quickly. I tend to do dark yellows, and (using the GW paints) use a combo of SnakebiteLeather, Desert Yellow, Golden Yellow and for those dark shadows add in some Necron Abyss to the Snakebite.

That\'s just me though.
