To funny, but really sad that we have to accomidate for everyones personal beliefs.

The thing is,people are NOT demanding that there be a Chanukah party but NO Christmas party. The point is that if you have a \"Christmas\" party, suddenly you are implicitly excluding people to whom Christmas is just another day (Moslems, Jews, serious atheists, etc.). Another point - work-related socializing is an opportunity for a lot of hobnobbing and ass-kissing. If \"Adam\" gets promoted over \"Habib\" because Adam was at the Christmas party and plied their boss with drinks, while Habib avoided a celebration of a holiday he does not observe (and which would be full of drunks), how is that fair?

I personally think that official work-associated parties are a terrible idea. Who wants to hang out with all the asshats at the office/lab/shop etc, with the boss around, and try to have fun... but not TOO much fun. Or alternately skip the party and not be a \"team player\".

I am skipping my department\'s Christmas party tonight and going to see a band. They can team-player their own asses (actually, nobody really cares around here).

My brother worked at a sheetmetal shop and the shop had a company Christmas dinner at a nice resturant. AFTER the meal had been eaten, drinks drank, dessert\'s finshed etc...each person got a bill.................... :flame:
